What is the true purpose and origin of the Man Bun? Understanding the medulla vs the spiritual eye, the kutastha, is a very big deal. I hope you'll take this short talk to heart, try out the stretch, and see what focusing on the medulla can do for you and your meditations.

A side note, a man bun is ok, if you have the hair for it. About the Ajna Chakra on the forehead, I think the forehead pulses at that point, which is probably why ancient Yogis said the 3rd eye is there.

Thanks again, you are the Best. I have had the poor posture you describe for a long time. I learned from you tube to sit with face slightly upturned with focus between brows, which led to head forward slouched position and neck ache. Thankyou again. I feel I should be calling you Master.

@@ForrestKnutson for sure...while doing this technique, i often include intoning the sound "ong" and try to resonate and feel it in the medulla zone at back of neck/skull...it works very well to bring my consciousness to this zone...i also notice that if i manage to hold my consciousness in this zone for even just about 5 to 10 seconds, i will be very calm and the calmness can last for many hours afterwards...it is very effective

Also, When u were talking about finding your chakras with the heart-mind, that too is something i discovered in recent months....i use the "ong" technique to help find my chakras and put my consciosness at the back of my spine in a particular chakra zone...often times, if i am not getting good results, I find that if i first focus on my heart chakra, i can awaken what i call the feeling-sense (what u call the heart-mind) and use this feeling sense to help me isolate and and enter my consciousness into each of the other chakras...it is always so much easier once the heart-mind is active....Opening the heart was not initially intuitive nor easy for me, until i discovered the "loving kindness/metta" meditation technique about 18 months ago. Here is a link to this technique: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5W5oZdjjsZqes0 This "Bhante Vimalaramsi" youtube channel is dedicated to this metta technique. It helped me a lot. The most helpful tricks i learned from this technique is to practice the art of subtley smiling with the heart, mouth (mona lisa/buddha smile) and the eyes all at the same time...it cracks open the heart-mind every time.

Hey forrest I wear my hair in a rishi knot in my regular life , and I have researched for a scientific reason for long while for it and it was always vauge answers but your explanation makes sense. So Now I'm wondering if I put more of a pull on my hair when doing my rishi knot would that help with meditation. And I wanted to ask the reason for uncut hair by some yogis, and how that's helps with there meditation. Since I already have long hair this subject is interesting to me. And thank you for making all these great videos.

That's great! A little pull is good, but not so much that it bothers you or distracts you. Khechari also supports this posture. The tongue muscle helps to pull the neck into proper position. From there it's that Reduced Breath Rate. That's the magic! As I mention in the Clinical Mindfulness. Thank you so much for watching and your great comment! To your medullary meditative success!!

I refer to that cuality or level of the mind which allow to perceive the energy centers in our body, and perhaps be able to connect our mind to these in a fluid way. I wonder if there's a method for developing that in the basis of daily practice. Thank you so much Forrest, light to you.
@ForrestKnutson

@@andoabil5169 Fantastic! Actually, this video is that. You just find them, one by one, when you have some time outside of your meditation practice. You want to develop a feel and response, which is what I'll be talking about in a coming video. So, that requires a process of concentrating your attention, feeling a connection, checking for a response (a sense of the content of the chakra), and then chanting a mantra in that chakra. It's a profound process. I'll be covering that soon, but it all starts here! ;)

Wanted to ask can we balance our two noistriles ie.air comes out through only right side ,how can we do that
@ForrestKnutson
@ForrestKnutson 5 жыл бұрын
If I understand your question correctly you can't. Alternate nostril breathing requires both nostrils. However, what I teach is a reduced breath rate or Heart Rate Variability Breathing. You can see this best in the video called Clinical Mindfulness. That breathwork is designed to balance Ida and pingala very quickly in a very natural way. It is Sahaja. As Lahiri mahasaya taught, the natural way. I hope you'll give it a try!

@ForrestKnutson
@ForrestKnutson 5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, there is no such book which does this correctly. It is very much like learning a martial art. There is no way to learn a martial art but by taking personal instruction. IF you want to learn it correctly. It is very difficult to find Lahiri Baba's original kriya. Maheshwari Dubeyji was one of the most prolific teachers of the Panchanan Bhattacharya lineage. He, more than anyone worked to keep Lahiri Baba's original teachings intact. If you would like to read a book I recommend, "Purana Purusha" and "Who is Shyam Charan?" These books, however, do not contain kriya techniques, though they comment on them often.

@@anandkesar5042 Well, the good news is I've designed this channel with the idea that it is a support and preliminary to anyone on an interior path, especially if that path is a Kriya Yoga path. So, the technique called Clinical Mindfulness is designed to circumvent certain common problems that many meditators encounter. I hope you will try it out. Getting those 4 proofs in meditation is Humongous.

Hi Jonathan! I have several videos on the 3 Knots of Lahiri Mahasaya, and what you are experiencing, is the 1st Knot. It's happening inside the brain, and the brain is projecting it out in front of you (where the spiritual eye is seen as well), because that's how the brain works (as a projection machine). If that sensation becomes too powerful, you can draw it gently back to the medulla, where the sensation will be more tolerable and enjoyable. And I hope you'll watch the videos on the Knots.
