The Chinese have always done standing/moving meditations as well, as in their five elements and eight brocades exercises. The late Bruce Lee can be seen using standing /moving meditation(concentrating on target and using Peripheral ) in his fight scenes and tournament demos where he sends people flying. They gather Chi/Qi/Prana and store it in the Dan Tien. My first third eye awakening was while doing standing meditation that started with light movements and ended with closing eyes and a neck lock. This bit from the Tao Te Ching describes how the old masters were in movement/ meditation,and was also used by Bruce Lee. "Cautious, as if crossing an icy river. Hesitant, as if fearful of the surroundings. Reverent, like an honorable guest. Dispersed, like winter ice began to melt in spring. Simple and sincere, like a genuine virgin. Open-minded, like an empty valley. Harmonized, like the turbid water. " My spiritual journey started as a young man in martial arts I found out there was a spiritual side which led me to nearly every spiritual teaching out there including reading The Bible four times. Yoga and every ancient martial art and every religion have something in common they are all paths to enlightenment. I agree that seeing light is not the most important part ,there are far greater gifts there. You are doing a good job at offering information that people may never get from their own teachers.

This starts out crazy but if you read on it’s about meditation lol. My son’s name is Forrest. Like you, he received his name pre Forrest Gump but how many times he’s been asked if he was named after the character in the movie is anyone’s guess. His dad and I told him we would have his name changed if he wanted-just figure out what name you’d like. He never came up with another name he’d prefer to be called and the whole subject was finally put to rest. I apologize for being completely off subject! I’m so glad to have “stumbled” onto your channel! I’ve been trying to find some more advanced methods to get deeper into meditation. I have what I’d describe as pretty extraordinary meditations but I have been practicing for about 10 years. My 3rd eye is partially open snd I see things in meditation-guides, symbols, etc but I don’t hear anything so I don’t really know what most of the visions mean. I often see an opening in what I’d describe as cloud like formations. I either fly through them and/or see beings peering at me from within so they are like a porthole. I don’t feel anything outside of feeling sensations on my head and heart area and sometimes feel what must be the beginnings of kundalini in the root snd sacral chakra area. I’ve never noticed sensations in or on my nose other than cool in, warm out but I’ll take note today. I do think I feel a shift now that I think about it such as I usually hear a kind of pop sound as I am “clicking in” to the meditation and I’m beginning to see a soft glow and what I’m seeing appears backlit. From there, I see swirling colors and that’s when I begin to see objects /figures such as eyes, faces, animals, beings, symbols and what I call gadgets. I wish I knew what it all means but I’m very grateful for what I do experience. I hope this all makes sense. I will check out your book recommendations and other videos(!). So glad to find you and I’ve both liked this video and subscribed with notifications! Thank you!
@ForrestKnutson3 жыл бұрын
Wonderful, Chris! I've always liked having a name that very few have in the world. People don't always hear it correctly, because it's an unusual name. When I'm ordering at a restaurant and they ask for my name, I'll say, "Forrest, like Forrest Gump." so they hear me correctly. Usually gets a laugh or a smile. ... You're in the Download Phase. I have been able to sense subtle energies around my back, that I've developed a habit of cracking and popping my sinus carotids and back mid spine area, behind the heart center. How it usually goes is, theres a slight pressure buildup behind the midspine back. Then i shrug it, pop left, pop right by doing a quick turn of my head just to releae the pressure making a popping/cracking sound. Theres a relief, especially a louder popping when i connect the tip of my tongue to the uvula, and gathering the pressure around the mid to upper spine area
@akashikrecords Жыл бұрын
It also has led me into a more meditatation quickies. Everytime i want to relieve my back i do a 10-15mins quick sesh just to meditate and pop out all the "pressure" buildup. Usually around 6 times a day, truly nice! I hope to hear what you can say about this experience.

I remember the late Barefoot Doctor talked about how East Asians were much easily able to shift from fomo game playing teenager mode to - almost zen than the majority of us in the west. Maybe that mudra in question plays a large part. Now I'm beginning to understated why some Indian traditions perform surgery in order for this to take place. I'll try the exercises 1st, rationally, whilst simultaneously appreciating their dedication to enlightenment, nonetheless. Great vid, lots of thought provoking stuff.
@tanyawieczorek6603Ай бұрын
What happened when you did the exercises? Also what surgery do they do for this?! And who was the Barefoot Doctor you referred to?
@robertrowan9893Ай бұрын
@tanyawieczorek6603 Firstly, the Barefoot Doctor was the late Stephen Russell who made it his life's work to spread largely Daoist based wisdom to the masses. In one of his articles, he referenced where incisions were made at the back of the tongue in order for its tip to anchor further back into the roof of the mouth. Thereby better forming the circuit of the microcosm orbit. In practice, when you contract your pelvic floor/prostate - you can tune into each apex point of the energy concerned. I principally use it to get out of my head, especially where sleep is concerned. Hope that gives some insight.

It can be intense and a little scary which can snap you out of it. The first time I felt it I was young and had a fever. Laying on my stomach in bed, I could hear yelling in my mind and a pressure or weight on my foread, my vision rocks back and forth. Forrest, what would be a good way to learn of Lahiri’s meditation methods. I’ve been a Yogananda practitioner for years, but I’d like to know what he taught. Is there a book, or must I enter a secret induction?? 😉

Question and i cant thank you enough. I have been doing home study SRF lessons for 8 months. Goal is to then : Kriya Yoga inititation. I am having really hard time focusing on : Self Energization Exercises. I think there are 38 exercises in total, (lesson 6 of the SRF lessons, round one, new student). And its focus: they want you to focus on: 1. the breath 2. energy entering the medulla 3. Christ Center 4. double breathing 5. then the MUSCLE goes with each one (out of 38). you know as science person (and I study neuroplasticity) the brain can only focus on one thing at a time. A pink elephant. Or not. So, how can this manual say to focus on : certain breath, where energy is, third eye, tension levels , and certain muscle. Please, help I feel Ike I am on an episode of Seinfeld. Needless to say: super frustrated, no results, and : feel lost . thank you for any guidance.............Youve been super! and super fascinating.

In that technique the eyes look up physically only. The whole focus is using the Breath to channel energy into the muscle. So one idea if Breath moving energy into one location.

@@ForrestKnutson thank you. I JUST saw your replies. I didnt know i had to be 'on you tube 'site to see my answers. I used to get 'emails saying "you have a reply from __________" and now, I do not. So, apologies on my thank you. I have 999 questions for you. LOL. i am so stuck on Kriya yoga. When I call and ask my science questions, I get 'pauses'. (we only know what we know). :) so: if this msg finds you> When I do Hong Sau technique: Do i focus on the 'outside of my forehead" third eye (i am a visualizer) OR the 'inside' of my third eye. Both ways I feel it so strongly. But, I dont want to do it wrong. And : i seel so many colors I get distracted. Orange. and my brain goes 'oh, wow, nice orange, like that'. Ooh, purple, why am i seeing purple'. I ma happy to email you privately and also pay for a consult. I am super stuc;k with Hong Sau......... (ive watched your videos). Eyes closed. Stare up at third eye. Some days i visualize "outside of my forehead'. other days; 'visualize breath coming out of foreheard from inside of third eye area'. So, just folks saying "third eye', can be : inside the forehead OR outside, for us visual folks. Blessings in advance to you................. guess who got high scores in 'analytical' in high school SAT ? lol

Amazing Roshan, congratulations! Yes you can practice this all day as you are able and it's a wonderful way to bring the interior world of meditation outside into your outside life.

I just watch my sensations while I sleep and it gives me perfect rest !is it okay to not to fall asleep ?
@ForrestKnutson5 жыл бұрын
That is a fantastic practice. Usually called, "Yoga Nidra." You do want a certain amount of sleep with no memory, so that the body has a chance to recover.

Amazing info as always! Quick Question: I noticed my nose "popping" during deep meditation, kind of like when your ears pop when you yawn. Does this sound like the turbinates? Also, it feels like I want to swallow when it opens completely.. should I resist the urge to swallow and allow the sensation to be there or is it ok to swallow (not sure if this effects things, hah)? Appreciate your advice!!
@ForrestKnutson3 жыл бұрын
Go ahead and swallow. Yes, that's the turbinates! Perfect!
