I would prefer a concrete base, since although the solid concrete blocks will take the weight, there is invariable ground movement. It's an excellent build but I think it's a shame to skimp on the foundations. How big is the man cave, I think, from memory, the maximum floor area must not exceed 30 sq metres and it has to be 2 m from the boundary? It's looks very nice and I hope you enjoy yourself in it, for many years to come.

Smart move on the thick foam insulation. I was only able to get 3/4" on mine and it's COLD! I love how you built the whole thing! My mistake was ordering an "Amish built" shed and then finishing it out myself. Amish out here are not craftsmen, and things were pretty shotty on the construction. I should have just built it myself to save time, but I'm also busy running our farm. I turned it into an amazing "Glambin" (glamor cabin) with birdseye maple wood and light fixtures out of a $2 million home! Cost a total of $3,000 USD to finish out the inside including sprayfoam! Isn't it nice sitting in something you made and say "dang I did a great job!?"

Nice space for the man cave! Biggest problem I saw was the lack of any headers over the windows and doors. Especially the wide span of the French doors. That 'flat laid' top plate has no strength when used like that. Prolly gonna sag on you
@AngusMcGregor7 жыл бұрын
Yes I probably should have supported above the windows and front more but I was restricted by the height due to permitted development, but the door ( and windows) frame top is a really thick 6 x 3 door frame and it is only supporting 2 joists at the widest part of the door. It has held up so far after over a year with no sagging, movement or cracking..
