I have ZERO respect for NM criminal justice. Think of it this way, imagine a drunk being allowed to walk down a busy sidewalk with a handgun up and pointing it at passers by AND doing it 14 previous times. New Mexico law enforcemnt is a laughing stock joke of malfeasance.

Can't speak to the DA or Judge, but these are good cops. They're held to a higher standard than you. The lieutenant is using de-escalation techniques to get the suspect to comply peacefully, for his protection and that of the cops. This is excellent training and I applaud these officers for their restraint. This is how you avoid lawsuits. This is how you keep the public and police more safe. It's also how you keep the public trust. The public needs to see more of this to see what heroes most police really are.

This cop's constant begging for cooperation is a depressing indictment of present day society,, morality, responsibility and criminal justice. In a more sane time, a well placed haymaker punch to the jaw would have been a solution to enact compliance. And deserved. And satisfying. On second thought make that three haymakers. Every single time this POS drives drunk, he is essentially showing his middle finger to the rest of society, a basic FU to everyone but himself and everything but his own convenience. Fifteen is the number of times he has been caught, almost certainly a drop in the bucket to the times he has done this.

From my time working in New Mexico, I can tell you that while people that are tribal members may have Numerous Tribal Court DWIs, they only count for state court sentencing guidelines if the tribe cooperates and sends the paperwork to confirm them. So in this situation you could have someone who has 11 tribal DWIs but only gets sentenced under New Mexico guidelines for their first DWI offense through the state/county when they finally get stopped off reservation or on a right of way within the reservation but by a SP or SO deputy.

@@ktkat1949 from reading info provided in the video, I don’t think the situation I was discussing in my comment fits this guy exactly as it sounds like he has at least 7 prior DWIs through NM and will get hard time with the 8th. I do wonder how many tribal DWIs this guy has in addition to those 7 as this location is a border town to the Navajo nation and the man sounds like he has a Navajo accent. There are people who avoid state DWIs by driving only on tribal/IHS roads when traveling to buy alcohol along the reservation boundaries.

@@howardoller443 You missed his point. He was respecting the officers resolve when other officers would have tasered or shot him for getting aggressive without backup. His donut metaphor is not disrespectful, it is a time honored tradition, coffee and donuts, often all a cop could get on night duty, find a all night coffee shop and take a break. Then again we both have our opinions so who knows. How did you not understand that? "many would have ventilated the guy" granted the officer safety in quotes is probably what set you off. In my opinion after the 15th DUI, maybe the driver should have been ventilated.

Reservation laws should be more strict against drunk driving, especially with the drugs being used in those communities. Majority of drunk/intoxicated drivers should not have licenses after so many DWIs oR DUIs. What a failure of our systems to not punish and remove things from people properly because of laws, plea deals, and rez law.

If it’s any consolation, it’s exactly the same here in the UK…people with multiple offences, getting away with it every single time. They’re belligerent because they can be and flaunt the law with equal disrespect. Until the laws change, these people will remain 10 a penny.

Yea I seen how it was so easy to get off charges in uk cause I seen this uk cops type show on KZbin and this guy dropped his coke and ran and than they found it an brought him into the station and let him go like 2 hours later with just a fine and they prettt much said they can’t charge him with it cause he didn’t have it on him when they caught him but seen that he threw it in the bush and he had a bunch of money on him they said they can only seize his money

Yes, it’s mad…… some of the UK laws date back over a hundred years and have no place in todays society. Is it any wonder that some people have no respect for the law? Our police are way too soft, but to be honest, their hands are tied. I think the US police don’t take any bull c*ap and just get the job done. As far as law and order goes, the uk has been going down the pan for some time.

Another CLEAR example of how woefully broken the criminal justice system is. After the fourth or fifth time the guy got a DWI, he should have begun doing hard time. After the 14th. . . he should have been serving FUCKING YEARS in prison. The fact that he STILL has access to vehicles only shows law enforcement and the resulting punishments are a ludicrous joke.
