@billskimodels4442 Жыл бұрын
I found this vid scrolling through your channel and love your tutorial on this classic. I found that it was easier for me to hammer onto the 3rd fret and flick off as you suggested, but also flick off the second which allows me to hear the open g string instead of plucking it. Keep it up Andy, it all great stuff👍

I’ve had a flickin’ good time learning this flicking song! And thanks for the proper accreditation. Bowie wrote and recorded it and the Nirvana covered it. Even here on youtube people call it a Nirvana song; not to knock their cover which is wonderful. If you are game, how about Star Man? Not that I’m an old Bowie fan or anything…
@georgerobartes20083 жыл бұрын
My personal favourite was Lulus in 1974 , with Mick Ronson on guitar , Bowie backing vocals and a great sleazy sax riff played by er I forgot ! Apparently Bowie encouraged Lulu to smoke 40 cigarettes a day to take the edge off her voice before recording the track ! The super slick and easy Ronson riff actually circles within the whole piece and can be laid down as a backing loop .

Lovely video Andy. I have been playing quite a bit of Bowie recently on a 12 string which had been his early instrument of choice. As an experiment I thought I would play heroes on a 12 string and I was surprised how well it worked. By the way I saw someone comment about you should do Ziggy stardust on Electric. I would suggest doing it on the channel with your friend, one on 12 string and one on electric together. Keep up the excellent videos.

@Andy Guitar. Hi Andy from Michigan, US. Hey, I have 6 acoustics guitars & I just ordered all #9-43 Ernie Ball & Vintage Gibson Reissue #10 strings to change them all out. My 84 12 string Epiphone sounds great with these lighter strings on it. I like the lighter strings, plus it's a bit easier to order.... Great song & lesson...

First part, easy, the rest, Daunting! especially the chorus... you're one of the easier teachers to follow, but trying to learn chords is soooooo hard, especially having broken 3 fingers on my left hand many years ago, the middle one never being reset correctly & is a bit twisted. Is there an easy way to learn chords? most teachers on you tube ignore the fact Beginners don't have any way of remembering them (can't learn without a way to remember) ie, I failed Math at school, but got 100% on Engineering trade exams because it was only then that Algebra made any connection to reality!
