Many viewers probably say to themselves that Brian should take Gordon's continuous antagonizing as constructive criticism, and that Chris should be nothing, but overjoyed with the changes Gordon made to his restaurant. They would react the same way Brian and Chris did in both instances. If someone constantly insulted you for whatever reason it may be, it would make you very agitated and outraged. If something you took great pride in whether it was successful or not, was completely changed overnight into something else entirely, you would have your doubts and suspicions.

It depends on the person. There have been chefs/owners that embraced change bc they got to see the restaurant,s potential ahead of them, past their egos.

well, if I had a restaurant that was struggling and one of the most successful chefs came to my restaurant to make it better I would embrace whatever changes he suggested/made. Pride does not bring the customers in and having pride in something that isn't working is not going to help the business.
