Welcome to my beginner hoop tutorial!
I'm continuing my beginner move lessons with mandalas - a behind the back, windmill-like pass. As always, I've included some exercises and drills to help you get this move down - and some crappy editing too!
I've covered a couple of different techniques to get these move down, as well as adding in a few warmups and drills to help you unlock the range of movements needed to keep the hoop up.
It might not seem like much but learning these skills now is so important as it builds confidence and muscle memory - and you'll find it easier to learn more advanced tricks as time goes on.
Always practice both ways and don't be annoyed when the hoop falls.
If you're really struggling, take a 10-20 minute break and then go back and try it again.
It helps your brain process what you've learnt and you'll often find something clicks when you go back to it.
