Yes!! My hormones have RUINED my hair. I cant even touch it or it falls out. It doesnt even get wet in the shower, cant absorb anything and gets so tangled and brittle all i can do is braid it. No products, no brushing (no doing it with deep conditioner in it does nothing). I've been so frustrated and sad how horrible my hair now is, I dont know what to do anymore.

51 yr old man, had seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp with embarrassing dandruff. I had to blow off the dandruff with dryer after styling my hair cause dandruff would sit on the surface! How I got rid of it 99% on the first try, I used extra strength T-Gel. And a dense brittle brush, after soaking my hair with warm water I poured almost a TBSP of the coal tar tgel into my palm rubbed it between my palms to fully cover both palms, gently rubbed it with my finger tips into my scalp for about 30 seconds, entire scalp, sides, back, top, hair line. Then with the (dense brittle brush) begin to from top center brush out, brush out in one direction not so hard you hurt your skin,do this all over your scalp for about 2 minutes. Then continue to brush all that dry skin out and turn on water so to rinse out while still brushing. When done. For tar smell apply conditioner with good fragrance, rub in lightly, let it sit while you shower if possible, after shower dry hair and apply to scalp, Sulfur 8 fresh oil sheen spray. OMG this worked fantastic for my. I sprayed the sulfur 8 on my finger tips and directly rubbed straight into my scalp do right hand fingers tips or left first then the other to get both sides of your head evenly!!

I did this whole dive into scalp care since I've been suffering from itchy scalp off & on for.. as long I can remember actually.. but it never felt serious enough most of the time for me to remember looking into it (I have adhd, things slip my mind super quick). I was confident I didn't have dandruff despite having a dermatologist tell me that's what it is (without even looking at my scalp! just basing it off me saying it itches!) when it got bad enough to bother me more than usual (and it would itch even the same day after washing my hair & scrubbing my scalp), and I'm just now realizing that it's because I live in a suuuuuuper hard water area and some of my products had chelating ingredients to counteract the hard minerals and the itching would get worse when I would rotate them for other products!! I knew my scalp had to be dry because it rarely gets oily on its own, but recently it felt like a film was constantly covering my scalp and even face when I was cleansing, so I reintroduced acids to both and it's gotten so much better :') if you had a dry itchy scalp that isn't dandruff, consider the hardness of your water!!

My daughter's Dermatologist prescribed Salicylic Acid conditioner, mixxed with regular conditioner and put it on her scalp for 30 minutes prior to washing. It helped, but came back. I have her use the Ouidad bubbling scalp scrub (probably not the real name) and then comb her scalp right after she washes/conditions her hair. That added extra step seems to loosen the big buildup of skin areas. Her hair is dry too, so I lock in moisture with a little bit of oil on the bottom 2/3 of her hair.

I feel like it's not a very common problem but I have bad acne all over my scalp. We are not talking about an occasional pimple, I have these huge, painful pimples all over. I use the nizerol psoriasis shampoo or the T/Sal shampoo because it's active ingredient is salicylic acid, the active ingredient in many acne products. It helps so so much and it doesn't fry my hair since the nizerol one is sulfate and fragrance free. I typically alternate it with tea tree shampoos, which are also used to treat acne. I also avoid putting any products on my scalp to avoid re-clogging the pores.

Coal tar smells like campfire, I would further go with a sausage that has dropped into the campfire. It's insanely potent smell, but when used right (I use it on my partner - usually we go with a drop of tar to a base oil or a conditioner that is meant to be on a scalp) it can work wonders. I highly recommend it when the flakes are getting really really annoying. It's not for everyday use though. It's more of a treatment.

@@marsy6359 To be honest it's best to start with the products that contain the tar. They have a ratio mild enough so it doesn't irritate or dry out the skin further.
