Changing the psychopaths to avoid steroetypes is a bad excuse. The whole thing with psychopaths (at least in 1,2 and OTR) was they are deliberately exaggerated versions of a person. its an apocolypse scenario for these people, they all snap and become caricatures of themselves. Changing just larry for being a stereotype and leaving the rest basically the same is bias and doesnt seem like genuine attempt to avoid stereotypes

Tbh the only changes I don't like is the removal of the Erotica genre, like at least replace it with a different genre to compensate or edit it for certain regions. But the updates and QOL improvements for Dead Rising are so good for me that I still play the game anyways, as it shows that Capcom still knows what makes Dead Rising very fun.

The world has gotten very hypocritical over a lot of censorship lately. I've seen a lot of things that have made "progressive" changes, while simultaneously doing other things that are not only just as bad, but possible even worse than all of the old "inappropriate" media. I was watching a review of some movie with a dragon demanding sacrifices of the kingdom's princesses. And the one that finally breaks the cycle by surviving and befriending the dragon, being a demonstration of "girl power," despite the fact that main character didn't actually do anything on her own. Everything was either by the support of clue left behind by the previous sacrificed princesses, or just random luck, like a piece of clothing getting stuck on something breaking a lethal fall or such. And then there's the fact that the dragon was, in general demanding generations of sacrifices, while not going after the original offenders. Even worse, the kingdom wasn't sacrificing their own bloodline, but getting princesses married into the kingdom. Also, since it was a modern "progressive" movie, many of them were of different ethnic backgrounds, which apparently the dragon never actually noticed anything fishy about this, and was killing completely innocent victims (at least to the crime committed against he dragon anyway). The main character was still in the classic useless woman role, and the dragon was extremely guilty of just flat out murder of innocents for generations and never expected to answer for her own crimes. Media hasn't made any real progress, just different prejudices or other stupid nonsense. Samus Aran and Aya Brea were far more progressive video game characters amid a time period "that didn't happen" than anything actual "progressives" are coming up with today.

The DR Remaster is sadly a great example of how, on their own, small changes are small BUT they add up exceedingly quickly From the UI being a lot more boring (including the pause menu) to some VAs not being given good direction (Brad's new VA definitely is a constant weak link) and even removing elements On their own, they are only so much but quantity ends up being a lot on the end, naturally We lose things like legendarily janky survivor ai, sure. But then we get annoying survivor dialogue (not counting the ones that were unspoken in the original. Im talking about when they go "this looks like a great spot for a photo op" kind of stuff Its a constant case of 1 step forward, half a step back. Sure its half a step but damn is that gonna become MANY steps in the long run

Honestly I just didn't see the point of the remaster due to all of the half baked reasons for the changes. Sexy pictures removed and censorship slapped on it? Annoying... Leave the fat female cop who (bad touch) women? That is fine? The amount of glitches and issues also didn't help. The voice acting had dropped a bit for some characters... And honestly... Most people remember the second game. Hopefully if they do a 'remaster' of the second game they will give us the Xbox DLC missions which would be nice. Yet I feel that this game will end up not doing that well like Dead Rising 4.

Larry looked to clean to be a butcher. I don't know why they didn't cover him with blood. Also since the entire theme of dead rising was consumerism. With one of the main antagonist trying to get back at all of America, because of what happened to his home town. It really enforces his ideology that he was almost killed by an American butcher for meat. While a immigrant that came from overseas shows that yeah America has a problem with consumerism. Yet everyone in the world needs to eat and there are people happy to provide the meat.

Just got done with Shadow Generations and on the point of Censorship. Rouge got the most pointless censorship and to kill the "for kids" argument, they still included her original SA2 artwork where here cleavage is visible. I question if people who defend censorship of sexy things will do the same for blood and gore, they won't advocate DBZ games have blood despite the show and manga having it, if I recall people even defended Tales of Berseria censorship of the main antagonist killing a child.

I will admit that TJ rotolo not returning to voice frank west is bit of a disappointment but the new voice for frank is slowly started to grow on me as well as the new voice cast for brad and jessie and NPC survivors, the inclusions of autosave check points, able to shoot while moving, weapon durability, camera upgrades as will finally fixing the ai for the survivors making much easier to escort to save room which now has stairs for them walk up and finally able to save while playing overtime mode is a major plus.

The fact that the game doesn't have difficulty settings is kinda sad. I'm on case 8 and have most of the PP Stickers and I'm like level 30. Whereas in the OG im like lvl 10 on Case 4-5, and have every PP sticker minus like 5-10 (theater room and maintenance tunnel.. and a few others?)

Apparently Neobards Entertainment, a Hong Kong based, game studio helped with this so this probably explains some of the "Communist" and Larry changes. I'm also sure this game was a Worldwide release so this can also affect certain stuff. Persona 5 Royal when it got released on PC also took out the Raidou Kuzonoha outfit and music dlc as that outfit was based around military garb that is...problematic...in China and Korea. History. War. Bad stuff. Hope this might explain somewhat. Love your vids man. Been playing since DR2.

as a casual (throw the tomatoes) i loved this game! i bought the original, 2 and OTR as a budle on xbox and the difficulty of the first game actually made me upset. im not a super gamer so having to really put a good amount of time into felt stressful for me, so i just gave up because i wanted to enjoy it and not get mad. so the whole handheld approach to DRDR felt much better. I probably will go back to the OG eventually but for now i really enjoy playing this rather silly zombie game. thanks for reading! -MGhank

I'm just happy the series isn't Dead anymore. Frank West is back and that makes me happy. Hopefully we get more games for the series. The negatives imo are so small they don't really matter. The series should gain its chance to flourish once again. And obviously as said in the video, the original game will always be there. Makes the small "bad" stuff feel so small when 99% of what makes DR feel so memorable is still there.

You don't even have to let frank die to abuse the auto save feature though if you mess up all it takes is pausing the game and loading you're last auto save which is even easier to abuse although not many people have talked about the drawback to auto saves in the game which is that if you're about to lose a case or survivor and go to the next area you can get yourself stuck in an unwinnable loop and have to revert back to an earlier save so it's not always the most helpful thing but still pretty useful personally I don't like it that much but I understand that it's to make it more palatable to modern gamers who have gotten used to save scumming over the years and it is pretty necessary considering how often this remake crashes

In a way, it's like the Last of Us Part 1: It's a refined version of the original, but with some of it's charm and style cut out. It's not a bad or boring game, but i still prefer the original Dead Rising. On 2 separate notes, I do think the va for Frank in the remaster is better than the one in DR4. I'm sure the DR4 va tried his best, but it was a drag to listen to the wannabe Deadpool in DR4. And I also respect you for actually judging the game by its merits rather than pulling the whole "THIS IS WOKE PROPAGANDA TRASH" tactic that certain people use to "criticize" games. It's disappointing how that's the current state of criticism.

The voice acting is WORSE, the blood/gore are WORSE, the censorship is nonsensical especially with things like changing the prayer pose for the cultists. And of course a lot of the redesigns are WORSE, the script changes make the game WORSE! Plus the game is missing VFX and SFX in multiple places! btw thanks for the free demo capcom so I could experience this downgrade first-hand!
