I came across video footage of a podcast on KZbin where this guy said, "If men are with someone outside the relationship.. that's not cheating. But if a WOMAN is with someone other than her man, THAT'S CHEATING. Women and men are different. Men can't cheat. Women get emotional but men don't, so women are cheaters, not men". Then there was a circle of people around this guy (men and women) going, "Wow... Yeah, that's deep...". I was like, "F*ckin' WHAAAATTT???" 😂😂😂 I swear, biological determinist pseudo philosophers are HILARIOUS!!! I'm not into polyamory (I wouldn't have the mental energy for it), but I have friends who have been in those relationships and it's SO much easier and less stressful to be respectful and genuinely talk things through than to be a deceitful a-hole. Zed, don't PRETEND to be chill, JUST CHILL!
@thenablade858

You have to understand that most of these podcasts just pay random bimbos and himbos off the street to nod and agree with everything they say. Of course men can get emotional and there are plenty of women who sleep with men and treat them like garbage etc. These podcasts dgaf. They just want money.

It's cheating whether ur a man or a woman. It's betrayal if you had their trust and connection. If you are in a relationship with someone, stop cheating. Cheating is cheating, and you're a cheater, especially by using others' bad behavior to justify it. If you are poly and go on a date with someone, tell them you're poly so you don't WASTE all their time. It is so simple yet nobody does these simple things despite always claiming to be good people of society and harshly judging others for their views. I'm talking to you, the person reading this. Using blanket statements like "ALL WOMEN" and "ALL MEN" is only serving as a detriment to you and everybody who doesn't fit the stereotype, regardless whether you think you won LE EPIC INTERNET ARGUMENT or did an epic own on the internet.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. I'm glad she's not in your life anymore. It's sad polyamory gets a bad rep over people like this. Polyamory doesn't say anything about a person the same way monogamy doesn't. It's just a relationship style. If anything, it is possible to be cheated on even in a polyamorous relationship. Every relationship has its own boundaries, its own rules.

I literally had the same thing happen with an ex. He was having a lot of different casual hookups, and I was totally cool with it as long as he was safe. That kinda thing isn’t my speed, so for awhile I didn’t do much other than talk/flirt with a few people. I went *one* date with a girl with I’d been talking to for the last 6ish months. She traveled a lot for work, and was a ways from home. I made her dinner and then we got baked and watched documentaries and cuddled til we passed out. When I got home I got berated with what an awful partner I was to no do XYZ before hand, we didn’t really have any rules other than be safe, and I didn’t even go as far as he did. After that he tried to guilt me into being intimate with one of his partners, and I felt so gross. Im still poly, I still feel really earnest feelings of romantic interest in more than one person, and I love seeing my partners talk about their awesome dates and partners, but sometimes with men it’s the worst. It always twists back into some kind of possessive ego thing, and I don’t get it.

I think it's just guy's being scared of being left by you or not being viewed as special. If your main partner (I'm sorry if my terminology is off. I'm not poly) is a woman then I think you would still be experiencing a simiar, if not an increased level of possesiveness among women. To me this level of possesiveness isn't weird as it's normal for a monogomous relationship. It's what makes it work to be honest. The kind of connection that people want in monogomous romantic relationships are the kind where people are mutually possesive and special. It's not a mens issue neccesarily, but a compatibility issue that's you've been facing.

@@Ukraineaissance2014by the sound of it, it sounds disgusting and shallow, but what is "sex positive" ? im an advocate for poly relationships to be normal, as long as all parties are aware, informed, and okay with it, but i myself believe in strictly monogamy, so while it is good that these are being normalized; it still feels a little discouraging, because id rather be with a person who ALSO wants strict monogamy, preferably since they discovered relationships & sex. (so, basically; they havent had a "hoe phase") yet the reason why its discouraging, is because im not too sure if people are gonna care about "saving themselves" or "choosing wisely" when all of this quick, short-term and hedonistic BS is being pushed constantly. i hope you understand!

As soon as they attach 'sex positive' to themselves it just means they like to broadcast tedious detail about their sex life endlessly. Also theres a push in this 'movement' for every single person to sleep with as many people as they can and be 'experimental' when they may just be like me and just be pretty much asexual and perfectly happy that way.

As a poly person myself...ideas like jealousy and possessiveness are so strange to me. Like you *really* have to somehow let go of those feelings to make it work. @anthroimperzia3927 Well, yeah, I'll admit to being greedy, but I could also just never see myself in a monogamous relationship. I don't understand it. And the same goes the other way around, I know many monogamous people have no idea how you can possibly have many partners and still be happy, content, and stress-free, but...being surrounded by people I love makes me happy. Helping all my closest friends get along with each other and encouraging them to be intimate makes me happy.

Maybe it's too late for you to respond but I'm curious. I get that jealousy can be overcome, but do the connections with each partner not feel...I don't know, shallow? If each person is meant to fill specific needs, it's more like a friends with benefits than a real loving relationship right? I know some people truly can make a poly relationship work, and with like 3 or 4 people, yeah I can believe that would work. But once you get higher than that, isn't it more of a friend group?

@barbaraw1245 it feels like both friends and lovers at once, and it's really wonderful. He’d pursue multiple women, always have a vague excuse for why his wife or girlfriends couldn’t date men, and then immediately use mental health as a sort of emotional blackmail to suppress his other partner’s needs. Tried to help him understand, but there was no getting through to him, so now I just watch the dumpster fire from afar.
