You remind me so much of my mother, who is also Palestinian. She cooks from the heart just like you. The world needs more women like you and my mother, it's become a lost art nowadays.... I cannot tell how grateful i am to see you cook delicious dishes i grew up eating. It makes me so nostalgic, reminds me of my childhood, reminds me of my father who passed away recently and he LOVED these beautiful Palestinian dishes. It makes me so damn proud to be a Palestinian, watching a Palestinian cook like yourself makes me even prouder as you are sharing with the world the TRUE hidden gems of Palestine that many will never hear about on the news..... God protect you, Chef Noha and please keep sharing your beautiful recipes with the world and most importantly your beautiful soul.

Thank you so much for your kind words! Your comment put a big smile on my face! Sharing Palestinian recipes with the world gives me great joy. People like you are the reason I keep sharing recipes from our beautiful Palestinian culture. Thank you so much for your support! I cannot explain how much it means to me. May your father rest in peace and God bless you. ❤️

Ramadan Mubarak! My sister, an American of Dutch heritage, married a lovely traditional Muslim man from Jordan 24 years ago. He learned to cook from his mother, and he taught my sister to make these dishes in the traditional way for her family and friends, especially during The Holy season of Ramadan. Her youngest son followed his mother closely in her kitchen and cooked with her. He is now in culinary school here in the Chicago area. She and her family all have dual citizenship and frequently return to Jordan to visit relatives. What an amazing cuisine! There are spices and ingredients that I've never heard of, and Jane knows all their secret powers to transform a dish into something unique to her family's culture. I'm proud of her for working so hard to carry on this cooking legacy and pass it on to her sons. I think that there is nothing more peaceful and joyous than breaking bread with family and friends--new ones as well as well as old. Food draws us all together. Please keep sharing your love through your wonderful recipes. They're the best I've seen (and I've done plenty of research). It's your thorough, yet friendly and warm, video tutorials that really inspire me. Don't ever stop!

Mashalah it looks so delicious, Salam sister, god bless you, I have questions, I live in USA and where can I find the soup starter? what is that? is it a tipe of yogurt? can you post the picture of that? please thank you
@StitchingCuisines
@StitchingCuisines 6 жыл бұрын
WaSalaam, Yogurt soup starter is simply a soup starter made of raw yogurt. It can be found at any Middle Eastern supermarket in the USA. In Arabic, it is referred to as jameed. I use the brand Ziyad. Here is an amazon link: www.amazon.com/Ziyad-Starter-Jameed-Kishk-Concentrate/dp/B017GL23TGI I hope that helps. 😊

that looked so good and yummy, one thing I am having a hard time finding the dry yogurt Jammed ( I am not sure if this is the correct spelling) where do I find it can you provide me a brand name please. I would like to make this dish so bad. I remember my grandmother making it and layering it is it the same thing? back then we had a large family and that might have been her reasoning to make a bigger batch, I am not sure... Thank you again for the recipe and please make more Palestinian food.

I am so happy, I just asked for this a couple days ago and here it is already :) One question - in one step, you were whisking the yogurt, and in the next step, everything was in the pot with the meat. I think maybe one step was edited out by accident :) Can you just tell us here in the comments how long you boiled the yogurt before you added everything? What did you do with the water from the meat - is it also there or did you take out the water before adding the yogurt? Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe. My dad always made this for me when I asked!! I hope there is a kabsa recipe coming soon too, it's another favorite. I am so so so happy I found your channel!!

Wonderful! Thank you for watching!! For the step by step recipe, refer to my Mansaf recipe on my website at stitchingcuisines.com/. Referring to the video, let the yogurt boil for about 10 minutes before pouring the yogurt over the meat and whatever remaining water is in the pot. Again, this can all be found on my website. I hope this helps! It sounds like you have a great dad. :) I will add kabsa to my list of recipes to make. It's a yummy and easy meal. Thank you for your support! So happy to know that you enjoy my videos!

WaSalaam, SoupStarter is a specific kind of yogurt that is shipped from the Middle East. It is used when we are not able to find the exact yogurt that we use back in the Middle East. If you can not find it in stores, look for Middle Eastern yogurt. Only use plain yogurt. Two kinds that I use: Karoun Dairy Arz plain yogurt and Byblos plain yogurt.

@StitchingCuisines

Palestinian Mansaf is traditionally made with lamb meat without any additions. But, my family likes chicken and my mother taught me to add cauliflower. I learned how to make this recipe from my mother, who learned from her mother. This is the recipe that was passed down in my Palestinian family. But, the beautiful thing about food is that you can change a recipe to how you like to eat it. :)
