So, I’m American born in America and my husband is Arab born in Jordan. He has lived in the US for 12 years. I love to cook - all kinds of foods. Of course, I cook my husband Arabic food but I have to do a lot of research. I watch a ton of videos and try to use bits of information from each to aid in cooking the Arabic foods. My husband hasn’t had Musakhan in a very, very long time, although we live in a very Arab populated area with lots of middle eastern restaurants, it’s not something I’ve ever seen on the menu. When I told him I was going to make this dish (which I never heard of but stumbled across on google) he simply said “God help us”. He tends to think everything is hard to cook and since I don’t know what it should taste like, it may back fire on me. I typically do very well. My father taught me how to cook good. Anyways, he walked in the house and said “wow, it smells so good in here”. He absolutely loved my Musakhan I made with your recipe. I always know when he especially LOVES a dish I make because he asks a lot of questions about how I made the dish and he reminisces back to his child and teen years (he came here when he turned 18) when he was home with all of his family and how his mom prepared the dish. He bragged to all of his family back home in the MIddle East and all of his friends here in Chicago......Then, then......he asked me to make Musakhan for a large group of his friends this weekend. He loved it so much, that he told his friends they have to try it. All of my husband’s family and friends are always so impressed with me picking up the language and not only trying, but successfully cooking delicious Arabic food... And I have to thank you, and the other KZbinrs which spend their time and patience posting in KZbin to teach others your skills. My husband’s friend’s wives are always willing to help teach me to cook new dishes, but none of them speak English very fluently, and I don’t speak Arabic fluently (Ana Fahem shway) so it’s very difficult learning that way. Thank You so much for posting and I hope you will continue in the future. Your recipe is absolutely delicious and you are so organized, it made the video easy to follow and even more enjoyable to watch. I think I can now give Mansaf another stab, as I see you posted a recipe for this dish. It has been the only dish I haven’t been able to successfully cook. I tried once for my husband’s bday and I hated the way it turned out. He told me I did a good job, but I know the recipe was off - I was going off of memory from helping someone else cook it once prior - mine was a fail. 😬 يعطيك العافية كاطير الله حارك ❤️🙏🏼❤️

Hello. Your recipe differs slightly from my family's. In Ara Ara Village, my aunts would prepare this dish with red/purple onions and they do not soak the bread in the soup. My aunt would prepare the bread outside in her stone oven. This is one of my favorite Palestinian dishes. We make a quicker version at our restaurant but it does not compare to the real thing. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

Hello! Thank you for watching my recipe video. 😊 Palestinians are famous with this dish, but maybe there is a slight differences between the cities. That's what makes it so special. What I like most about Musakhan is the Tonour bread that is made over the stone. So delicious!
