Manu Bhaker not nominated for Khel Ratna 2024 - wrongly missed! What went wrong?

Manu is exceptional but I think the criteria for Maj Dhyanchand Khel Ratna should be upgraded, annual thing makes the award lose its value and too many contenders if anyone misses out there will be outrage , it should be awarded post an athlete retires after a cooling off period as a life-time thing + the monetary incentive should be more. And Bharat Ratna/Padmas should not be awarded just for sports if the athlete hasn't made ground breaking contribution to society welfare through their sports. Then what crime has Gukesh done ? He is the most deserving Khel-Ratna candidate, youngest WC ever at 18 , winner of olympiad and winner of candidates. Winning treble in a year no one's done it before in chess or has one. Exactly one of the reason why India does not produce Bolt/Phelps /Shelly Ann amongst many other reasons. Too much importance to "social recognition" rather processes or building systems.
