This kayak adventure takes us from Swiftcurrent Lake to Lake Josephine in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park. We launch our kayaks just across Swiftcurrent Lake from the Many Glacier Lodge. If you have hiked to Grinnell Glacier or Lower Grinnell Lake these lakes will be very familiar to you as the Grinnell Glacier Trail skirts both Swiftcurrent Lake and Lake Josephine. Views of the surrounding peaks from the middle of these glacial blue lakes are unmatched. As we navigate a small creek and the little known Stump Lake toward Lake Josephine, the moose are plentiful along our voyage.

We love Many Glacier Lodge and that surrounding area. We have hiked Grinell Glacier and Lake, as well as Iceberg Lake many times. That is a very special place, and yes we usually see moose, bear, goat, big horns, etc. a lot in that area. It's also a great time to horseback ride there.

Me and my family were there yesterday and saw mama and baby moose at Lake Josephine. It was a beautiful hike up to Grinnell Glacier .. On the way back, they rerouted us because of two grizzlies procreating on the trail .. But if that didn't happen, we wouldn't have seen the Moose :)

We got to do it! It was soooo beautiful. Even got to see a moose (a younger bull than you guys saw) coming to eat at Stump Lake on our way back. Water levels in September were lower so we had to walk pulling our kayaks upstream between Swiftcurrent & Stump Lake but it was TOTALLY worth the effort. I wouldn’t have known to drag my family of 5 up there to do this if it hadn’t have been for your video! Thanks to you we have priceless memories and lots of photos of that little adventure. 🙏

The water is so clear! I need your suggestion on entering the west end at 5:00 am to Logan Pass ? This will be in September. Is it advantageous to come in on East side? I have 3 hikes in the East side and only one in Logan Pass.
@kimberlynolan2745
@kimberlynolan2745 11 ай бұрын
I feel it highly depends in where you are staying and personal preference as far as getting to Logan Pass goes. All are good choices as the most of the drives are scenic. Logan Pass seems to fill up fast lately so keep that in mind. Thanks and hope it works out well for you.

As long as it is inspected and the tag they put on your watercraft covers that day you can. Check with the many glacier ranger station to see if they would inspect it the day before and give you a two day tag so you could launch early.

The great thing about kayaking is that you can make it as long or short as you like. We take our time and are usually on the water 2-4 hours with stoppages occasionally. Part of a morning or afternoon would suffice I think. Enjoy!

I was in that area to attempt to see if it would be possible to go up the creek toward lower Grinnell. Decided not to paddle up there when we saw the moose coming in to eat, but I wish I had waited it out and paddled further in after he left. Would like to know if that part of the creek is passable however. It's on my wish list for sure. Thank you!

Thank you! This is a trip I would like to do. I’m from the south east and I thought it was April by the look but know things look different the further north you travel. I also wonder about day temps, night temps, along with the water temperatures. We southerners are not quite as use to the lower water temps.(actually all lower temps) From personal experience, I tend to need to dress a little warmer than northerners. Of course when northerner’s are carrying on about heat down here we chuckle too!
