Im not going to throw stones. Its a freewill purchase. I hope somebody loves that thing. Cherishes it. Feels great driving it and keeps it on the road for the car loving crowd to see. Im over 50. Hotrods my entire life, a family affair with cars. So sure, the price isnt for me. But hey the car isnt for me. Maybe its for you. If so, drive the heck outta it and enjoy life for those moments. Man that geardrive is a headache! I have a 71 Chevelle myself, I'm 40 now and I rebuilt the engine when I was 20 and at that time I wanted to put in a gear drive to get that cool blower whine. I'm so glad now that I didn't do it.

Beautiful car. it’s got some issues. Leaks, smokes, PJ gear drive wine is annoying. I’d definitely say the price is way over on this one for sure. That’s more like a 22k car

Blue smoke = oil burner and likely a tired engine. Gear drive is a bit obnoxious. Guled-down carpet in the trunk is sketchy. Bubling paint means rust underneath and a bondo job. Decent paint, nice interior. In '71 (I had a new one then) they called that color Burnt Orange.

I restored a 70 Chevelle SS. The only thing I would change is that fin on the trunk lid. Exhaust is not that great. But overall. A nice example of a Chevelle.

NEGATIVE COMMENTS Keep a few things in mind about Maple Motors….. 1) They have outstanding customer reviews for a reason. 2) They don’t hide anything. That’s the point of the videos. People that commented “power steering pump” didn’t listen to the part of the video where he said GEAR DRIVE. 3) They don’t build the cars, the previous owners did. So while you hate the sound of a gear drive, someone else loves it. 4) They will talk you out of a car if they feel it’s not quite what you’re looking for. 5) They don’t claim to have perfect show cars, nor do they charge show car prices. 6) They pay more for some cars, so they have to charge more for those cars. At the same time, I’ve seen cars that they could’ve gotten WAY more money for, but they don’t because ripping people off isn’t their deal. 7) Maple motors makes it easier for the average person to get the classic car they’ve always wanted. 8) They’ve been in business 40 years for a reason. 9) They’ve sold THOUSANDS of cars for a reason. So it’s kinda…. Wait for years to save $50,000 for a perfect car OR Buy it now for $25,000 and drive it and enjoy it while you fix it up like you want it.

The smoke is blow by bad compression rings needs engine work And that noise either it has duel idlers or inspection cover rubbing on flywheel or alternator bearing etc.

My dad bought a new one in 72. I still have it but it was the family car up until the late 80s . I can remember at one time it had this exact spoiler on it and was removed for a repaint at some point. I want to ask him about it see if he put that on or what. This is the only time I've ever seen it on another one.

@@MapleMotorsNickSouthgate Yeah, all gear timing is louder than chain drive but it's not that loud unless new and old gears have been used together or put back together reversed from previous install. Similar to ring and pinion gears. All that harmonics isn't healthy 😕

@@upnorthguides Unless you plan on rpms in the 7k+ gear drive is useless and what's really useless is buying a Walmart quality set that sounds more like a alternator on the way out 🧐 A daily driver and a weekend cruiser has no business having gear drive. A set producing that much harmonics is just robbing HP and ripping itself apart. If car was back sectioned with 5.30 gears sporting an umbrella on the back, I'd say ok and comment to not buy the Walmart special 🙄
