I'm a athlete, vet and so forth with many honors and I have tears in my eyes seeing this clip. The bravery and heart, strength and courage of this woman is inspirational. Some may say it was just a leg race, why run the risk, but this is the way this woman would handle any obstacle in life as well. It's what we're made of that counts in everything we do in life, and she's made of something beautiful it seems to me. May God bless her.

WOW! her knees were scraped up, muscle spasms to the point of trembling uncontrollably and she couldn't even remember where she was. All she knew is that she had to KEEP ON GOING! what an inspiration and a lesson to all to never take your eyes off the prize.

I know this is an old video, but I have to comment. This shows the absolute determination of the human spirit. My eldest daughter is a marathon runner who ran her first full marathon last October. (2022) She woke up feeling awful that day, in pain because as luck would have it, her "time of the month" decided to show up. At 22 miles she was about ready to give up, but I was tracking her progress at my home via a phone app and I started sending her cheers and words of encouragement. I told her that her stepfather who had passed away the prior year, was looking down from above, proud of her accomplishments, and how far she'd come and was cheering her on. She said that gave her the motivation and strength to carry on. Along the way she ran into another runner...an older woman in her 50s who was also about ready to throw in the towel, but she grabbed her arm and said no. She told her they were going to cross that finish line together....and they did. I'm crying right now thinking about it because until you realize the absolute training and dedication that these athletes have to compete in something like this, you don't realize how important it is for them to make it across that finish line...even on their knees. It's a beautiful thing. 😭💗🏃♀💪💯❤

Oh, I guess I just meant that I'm not too surprised that she ended in such a state of utter exhaustion, considering the fact that first person in recorded history to run so far at the Battle of Marathon died afterwards. That being said, I admire her fortitude.

One of my friends who is 15 has just won nationals in athletics and is also one of the best in country in swimming and he described hitting the wall as one of the most painful experiences ever. I don't know how he does it. His family pushes him to do sports and runs 100m in 12 seconds. that may seem not that fast but when we're all running next to him it's ridiculous!
