My doctor wanted to prescribe Ozempic because I’m obese and a type 2 diabetic. I had a bad feeling about it so declined. I told her I wanted to lose weight more healthfully. I’m working on my weight by eating more healthy. I’ve lost about 18 lbs so far. The scary thing about the drug is the gastroparesis. I already have this due to the diabetes. I can’t imagine what Ozempic will do to make it worse, or that my doctor wanted to prescribe it knowing I have this. I manage it now by adding apple cider vinegar capsules and a natural enzyme tablets. These help with digestion. I’m glad I looked up Ozempic’s side effects. They are horrible! And now I am running into all these videos saying how bad it is. So glad I said no! Thank you Maria for posting this. This information is really valuable and I learned more about the dangers of this drug like the muscle loss. I enjoy your videos. Have fun in Africa!

For what it's worth- I started carnivore diet and in four months I had dropped over 40 lbs! I have to say that I am not a strict carnivore- I eat lots of dairy products (full fat). I also have to say that I LOVED my veggies and would have been the last one to say that I would be successful doing carnivore. But it works! And there are so many recipes available here and other online channels that you can easily make almost anything you crave. You were absolutely right to refuse the drugs!

@@marjake3147 Congratulations on your weight loss! That’s a great achievement! I’ve seen the carnivore diet like what Marie posts. I’m not sure what it all entails. I have been doing Keto. I don’t eat much fruit because it raises my blood sugar. I am trying to eat more veggies and will eat dairy like milk and butter from grass fed cows. I also eat healthy fats and oils, and love my meat! But make sure it’s organic and not bio engineered. There’s more and more of that nowadays. My dad showed me organic chicken that states on the label it being organic, non gmo, and not bioengineered. I’m not sure where you’re from but it’s at Fred Meyers or Kroger stores. Perhaps I’m mixing the Keto diet with a carnivore one. I’m not sure. Thank you for your comment.
@marjake3147 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! I must tell you I went on the carnivore diet because of my severe RA. I had heard that others lost weight but that wasn't my goal. I now explain to people that I am on what I think of as a sugar-fast diet. I used to love my veggies but no more! I finally realized that carbohydrates are processed just like sugar in your system. Also, there is no such thing as "healthy" oil. One other item I would mention is that many doctors think carnivore is unhealthy but in fact you get all your vitamins from beef- in fact there are some vitamins that you can only get from beef. My BP dropped from 150/89 to 110/60. My doctor marvels at my blood values for my kidney and liver function especially for my age. Btw, I don't lack for having anything sweet to eat; I freely use stevia and monk fruit sweeteners since the NIH has come out and said they are actually good for you. I would suggest that you try going carnivore for 30 days and see how miraculous the results can be!
@1rayne Жыл бұрын
@@marjake3147 the only fats I use is olive, grass fed butter, grape seed, and sometimes coconut. I don’t use coconut often. The only veggies I use are non starchy such as greens and bell peppers in all the colors. I am a bit more naughty during the holidays, but most of the time stay away from the sugars and starches. I do use Stevia and Monkfruit, and allulose. I have a mixture of these that I got from Amazon and it is great. Even my mom likes it and she’s picky about sugar alternatives. We also get organic supplements and vitamins to help with our nutrition. Fruits and veggies don’t have as much as they used to. I stay away from fruits most of the time because of the sugar content. Same with starchy vegetables and rice. I eat more meat and eggs. Hopefully I’m doing well. I went Keto before the pandemic and lost a bunch of weight. I gained it all back going off of it so am getting back on track. I’m not sure if you heard of Chris Cooking Nashville, but he has a lot of carnivore recipes too. One is for “mashed potatoes” using egg whites. I’ve been wanting to try it but haven’t yet. You should check out the video. You can find it in KZbin.

Sorry to hear that! To get your blood sugar down you need to shrink your fat cells. Eating proper macros with a clean keto or carnivore diet will get you there. I do not recommend KetoChow shakes--they contain ingredients that can drive inflammation and even slow weight loss. Plus, you should always chew your food. It registers leptin better for satiety. You can get proper macros here for free (PLEASE read the notes at the top of the calculator regarding height, protein needs, and body fat percentage and be sure to adjust accordingly until your protein goal is within range): mariamindbodyhealth.com/calculator/

@MariaEmmerich Thank you for taking the time to respond to my message. I am not taking that ozempic. I much rather do keto or ketovore. But yes my cholesterol is extremely high. I did take the rosuvastatin and ezetimibe just this week. I am not happy about it. I did lost 33lbs. My a1c 5.2%. Triglycerides 52. So not sure if these are good or not. Doc didn't say anything about it. CAC...that you mentioned. Is this needs to be subscribed by my doctor or can I get it done on my own to set up an appointment. Overall, I am so confused and not sure what to believe. I really want to improve my health. Btw, I did have heart surgery 2016 for aortic valve replacement. Just to throw that in. Again, thank you so much for your response.

My triglycerides is 132.. not 52.
@MariaEmmerich Жыл бұрын
You can get a CAC score without a prescription at most any imaging center. They are non-invasive and affordable. What's most important is to know your CAC (zero is best, risk increases as the number does) and your HDL/Trig ratio. You want it at 2.0 or less; ideally 1.0 or less. A trig number of 132 is high. You want to aim lower. Eating consistently correct macros and a clean, well formulated protein-prioritized keto or carnivore diet will get you there 💪

I have been on Keto for quite a while and have adrenal insufficiency thus take cortisol. That inhibits my ability to lose weight. I started tirzepitide 10 weeks ago. I’ve lost about 1 1/2 # per week. I’m on the lowest dose and split the dose. It has been nearly a miracle for me. GLP-1 receptors are located throughout the body including the brain. My thought clarity has improved as well. I focus on exercising to keep from losing muscle. I use compounded med and it costs $350 per mo. Everyone needs to educate themselves. I have another 20 # to lose. I feel so much better. BUT I rarely eat out and have to stay strict Keto. It’s not a crutch for me, it’s a tool.

during & after the pandemic, I got really discouraged from a keto weight loss stall that lasted 8 months. I was stuggling to figure it out. I decided, it was too mega expensive to being starting and failing keto every month. I put back on 30 pounds. My T2D came back like a vengence, so my doctor put me on Ozempic. But it is in no way an easy fix. I had to wean myself off, but the food cravings looked more like a heroin addiction. So I had to go back on Ozempic.
