Also yes Marie Antoinette did once wear a ship replica on her hair. She wore the ship to represent the French Navel victory against the English. The ship was known as the Belle Poule. Rose Bertin was the one who created this hair accessory.

Marie-Antoinette created a HUGE scandal and faux pas when she wore, for the first time, in public her pouf hair style to her husbands coronation as King of France...Nobody had worn a pouf hair style in the court and it was considered taboo to flaunt a new style 1) at the coronation 2) to upstage the king...But Marie-Antoinette continued to do things that would shock the people and the monarchies of Europe until her death..Sadly she was the scapegoat for many of the problems of the nation, and her execution didn't alleviate the problems in the least nor did the revolution.
@MANMARTRE8 жыл бұрын
An old theatre trick...take a 2-3 foot longhair piece, blow up a balloon long, 2 feet is perfect for a dramatic effect, then you take a heavy duty lacquer and wet the hair and place it around the balloon so that the loos is a giant cone head of air hiding the balloon..let this dry, then you can pop the balloon and the hair should be hard, there are gels that work as well, and certain lacquers for art you can use too...then pin this to the head and you may start applying the hair or pin this to a wig and construct the wig around the solid ballon shaped base, the hairs are ideal for pinning the outer hair/wig to....

Rose Bertin is the one who invented the pouf hairstyle during this time period. She first created the hairstyle for the Duchess de Chartres which was later adopted by Marie Antoinette once she became a patron of Rose Bertin in 1774. Rose Bertin was the first fashion designer and also the first celebrity stylist, also she knew how to dress and style hair as well. Some misinformed people do not believe Rose Bertin was the first fashion designer. I however have found extensive evidence to prove that Rose Bertin was indeed the first fashion designer. I'm writing a book on this historical figure now! Thanks for the video : )

I also had my hair made like Marie Antoinettes by her for a party I was going to. Having to sleep with that door was very very hard:) Getting it all washed out again also very very hard:) My teenager daughter also had historical hair styles done for a while. It is really fun to try these kind of styles it makes you feel so different:) And with the right dress I felt like a queen:)

People in the 1770's (which is when hairstyles were the biggest) usually wore small pillows in their hair to make it bigger without adding too much weight, which was then covered with hair to hide it.
