Last time I bled my brakes I forgot to put the bleed block on the rear caliper. I was pushing on the syringe and the caliper started leaking oil on the floor. I leant in closer to have a look, thinking the syringe was winding it's way out of the caliper and one of the pistons flew out at speed and there was a small explosion of red brake oil everywhere. Not sure how it missed my eyes 😂 Hilarious stuff.

The more and more I see this bike come together, the more and more I am wanting to buy and build me own Marino frame. Before the recent major upset in the bike industry I was considering a Nuke Proof Scout frame for my hardtail build, but since that isn't an option any longer. I think it will be a Marino, the pricing is almost identical and the offer it in a hammered silver finish that I think will look killer on steel frame! I know it goes against Tick's way of doing things.. but SRAM has an AMAZING easy to follow step by step videos on how to cut and bleed the SRAM DB8 brakes on their KZbin channel. As well as a how to video on how to correctly install the barb and olive. The TLDR is that the barb is threaded into the hose first(not pressed in) using the T8 torx key provided and then the olive is threaded onto the barb . SRAM even got smart and made the fittings between the DOT fluid and mineral oil brakes different to help prevent users from cross contaminating them. Trust me its BAD when you do it.😉😉 You way works but you are more likely to get leaks around the barb if you don't get it firmly seated into the hose.

I think I already commented on the Review of the DB8 brakes, but I have had two sets so far. I put them on my Trek FS build and they came stock on my YT Capra Core 1, I like the brakes they work well, the biggest problem with them in my eyes is the lever blades. I had 3 wrecks with these brakes that cause issues, 2 bent levers and one destroyed plunger, and as far as I have seen SRAM does not offer replacement lever blades, so essentially you have to buy either the replacement lever assembly or for the same price a whole new brake assembly. I am probably going to upgrade to Shimano SLX or TRP Slate EVO eventually. Cheers y’all! 🤘

Last time I bled a brake was.... 2016 or so. Watching this reminded me of what to do on an older sram brake I got in recently. Build is looking great. Look like at least a 66 degree head angle. Slacked out for sure. I think my dh hardtail is.... 36 lbs or so. With 26in tires..

I was on the fence about if I should buy a fox 38 and put it on my hard tail ( couldn't find a 36 anywhere) kept seeing " over forked " all over the internet. This is the video I needs. This Bike looks to cool. And after putting the 38 on my bike I'll never go back.

The barb is threaded as well. All you need is the torx bit to thread the barb in🤫

I'm sure it's been mentioned in the comments already but you need to remove the rear caliper and flip it around the seatstay so the hose goes inside of the seatstay and not on the outside.... just like you would do on a fork.

Preheating the microwave?? That's on Wolfman for not teaching you how to nuke hot pockets. But in Wolfmans defense the Tick did destroy Wolfman's prized egg pan. Bleeding brakes is fun mmmmkay. In the Magura dropper post episode Wolfman said he was the one who cleaned up the messes...😂 Kidding. Can't wait to catch up to your videos.

15:48 Interesting the hose is on the outside, maybe cus it's too tight to put it on the behind the seat stay. 16:59 Looks like you got the hoses perfectly cut to length.

14:25 looks like this bleed kit does not have the thing to squeeze the syringe hose. The Formula bleed kit does, so I close it off, and lift it, so fluid is all the way to the top, it spills over once bleed screw is put in. But assures there is max possible fluid. But the drop method you used is cleaner.

Downhill bike? Nope. Hard-core hardtail? Yes. Enduro hardtail? Absolutely I'm running the DB8's and they feel really good. Clean the brake pads with light sandpaper before you go for your first ride, they take forever to bed in otherwise.

19:53 Definitely slack, my bike has 62.5 deg. it looks very similar. Definitely a hardcore hardtail. Slacker bikes exist, but only few of those, Alutech Cycles the german brand has the Armageddon, it's made in Asia, But forgot where, which was inspired by the Pinkbike Grim Donut I think it got 57°. Seen a steel frame builder build a frame with 58 deg. But I forgot the brand. I'm satisfied with 62.5 deg. Many enduro bikes don't go past 64deg.

Good it was not Sram brakes with DOT fluid. Got to love Mineral Oil, DOT is toxic and bad for skin and paint. mineral oil won't eat the paint and blind you. But still don't get it in the eyes, as it can irritate. A nice thing with Sram is they offer spare parts, but I've not looked into if they do for this brake. I looked it up and could not find any yet. No spare lever blade, pistons, internals yet. But on DOT brakes they offer all parts as spares. Maybe some day.

Should just get a set Paul Klamper brakes, hydraulics have never been worth the aggravation, and are not reliable, Imagine you had to pump your car brakes so you wouldn't crash and burn every time you got into it.
