I’m watching you do 8-1 and I’m thinking: given that 8-1 and 8-2 fit the themes of the first two worlds, do you think the smb3 devs’ plan originally was to make “dark” versions of levels that would be in the other worlds (a dark underwater level for 8-3, a dark big level for 8-4, etc), but maybe they just ran out of time or space? I’ve never been able to officially confirm this theory anywhere, but it makes sense to me. Thanks and congrats on WR!

Smb3 records are slow because of rng. Just getting no hands alone on a run up to that point is hard enough. If smb3 didn't have such unavoidable rng then it would probably be like other Mario's with flawless runs. The rng is why it's popular and avoided by alot of the runners

For a moment I was wondering why he wasn't running and jumping into the cards at full speed, and I realized it's because he doesn't want to get 3 stars in a row (or any 3 items in a row, but it's easiest to get stars, since all you need to do is run and hit the lower left corner at full speed) because getting rewarded with an item wastes time.

They won't acknowledge that I had the game before anyone else at least a year early but I was a child so six months early and that game was super bad ass and they wanted you to beat the game three times it was super Mario Bros 3 and the second time you were rewarded with all the items and I beat it in under a hour all the time so that makes me a default speedrun champion 🏆 because my game wasn't broken and bowers hit box worked!!

What is the purpose of sitting and waiting for the P meter to fully deplete, such as at 6:06? Is this for RNG manipulation? I imagine it's NOT expressly for the purpose of not getting 3 star cards, because even just slowing down will ensure you don't get a star card, so I'm curious to know the reason why the P meter has to be completely empty... and a Google search wasn't very helpful...
