Srry for the question but, what exactly are "kill the animals" and "save the animals" donations?

+Jorge Kun And welcome to the GDQ community I say! I believe those donations are made as a sort of 'incentive' for a Super Metroid speedrun; In the run, 'killing the animals' will usually be the faster way to finish the game, while 'saving the animals' means that you will have to take a different route and take longer to finish the game (I also believe that one recent run had a potential World Record time, but it was lost because the incentives for *saving* had won).

+Hassan Cinnamon it's a donation incentive (more bidwar i should say) for metroid where at the end of the game you can kill the animals or save them, kill them saves time and save them obviously loses time, a world record was actually lost due to saving the animals at one of the previous gdqs

+MeekoChan Holy cow, was it? That's one of those things you always think about in fun, like "wouldn't it be funny if that happened". If it was for a WR I don't know if I could've kept myself from ignoring the incentive, unless the runner had no idea. You wouldn't happen to remember which year it was would you?

FreeCorps generally they don't know if they are on WR pace, cause they aren't doing splits and just ask if they what time is at every now and then, don't quote me but i do believe it was 2014

+svankensen Lightweights(Toad/Yoshi/Peach) are fastest, of those Yoshi takes the least frames to select.

+evilvitamin Nice answer, thanks, i believed they behaved like in super mario kart, where the heavies were the fastest but had crappy acceleration and handling. Yoshi and peach were acceleration chars there.

Toad, Peach, and Yoshi are the fastest characters and are all equal in speed. The reason Yoshi is usually picked for speed runs is because it only takes one frame to select him because of his position on the character select screen.

I believe Yoshi also has the fastest acceleration.

Yoshi and Peach at least have the fastest acceleration in Super Mario Kart. Unsure about the N64 version
