Kinda wish that Treasure Tracker was a Zelda game, there aren't that many good Zelda spin-off titles, and the theme of hunting for treasure fits quite well with the Zelda games. I guess it's nice for Captain Toad to get his own game though. :)

Actually, it probably WAS impossible for Yoshi to be a mount in NES games, most NES games had additional processing power, and RAM built into the cartridges. Whereas, vanilla NES hardware was WAY crappier, and probably was only capable of simple games like ice climbers, and the original super mario brothers at the most. Because no freaking way could a game like Kirby's Adventure have been done on the NES back in 1983.

At 2:30 where Miyamoto talks about it being "impossible technically" to have Yoshi on the NES marios.. well, it *was* possible, and in a main-series Mario game, and just as capably as the SNES Yoshi. A KZbinr and Mario 3 hack creator named Captain Southbird has released a hack called *SMB3Mix* where you are able to use Yoshi in an NES game.. The ROM hack is playable on actual hardware, so yeah, it was possible. Nintendo couldn't figure out how to make it work, but one guy in his spare time could. The hack is very good, right up there with *Mario Adventure*, so I'd highly recommend anyone interested to go give it a play :)

Honestly it was just one console - the Wii. Every other Nintendo platform has been competitive. I'm not sure if modern gamers are too young (or forgetful) to know Nintendo before the Wii or too caught-up in pop-culture gaming to realize that Nintendo took the crown back with the Wii U. Nintendo's reputation is recovering. Had it never deteriorated then the Wii U would currently be sold out in stores across the world because it is currently the best console this generation. It's just not popular.. because for some stupid reason video games have become one of those things in which people care about what is popular.

Also it's harder for third parties to make games for it then it would b for them to make that game on ps4 and port it to xboxone as if ported to wii u they have to add extra things for the gamepad and touch screen and that takes up time nd money. ゆい714 the N64 was great but severly limited by the catridge system. Worth noting that devloppers expected more power out of it and some games were downgraded from the Ultra64 arcade version. The NGC was a great console to compete with Sony and Microsoft but just like the N64, was severely limited by the 1.5Gb disc where competitors had 4.7Gb DVDs which also did more than just games. As for the WiiU, it does has more power than the PS3 and 360 but is far from the PS4 and One. Just like on the Wii, the regular controllers are made for casual games and fail for serious games (they had to bring back a 13 year old controller for Smash Bros because it was their last competitive controller, and a very good one)

Fun fact, guys: There's a fan hack of Super Mario Brothers 3 for the NES that managed to successfully backport Yoshi into the engine of said game, meaning it certainly _is_ possible for even mainstream Mario games at the time to have Yoshi mechanics in them. I guess the true reason why Yoshi only made his debut in Super Mario World for the SNES instead of an title for the NES is because Miyamoto couldn't figure out in time how to make Yoshi's mechanics work with the technical limitations of the NES. That can happen and it happens often, especially since one only has a limited amount of time to program a game assuming you're not an indie developer.

In regards to the issue at 2:26 the reason they couldn't implement Yoshi in the original SMB is also because earlier NES/Famicom game cartridges couldn't hold alot of data. This also resulted in a fourth DK cement factory level being scrapped. Later NES cartridges got so big, they could fit two old NES games on them like with "Donkey Kong Classics," and the "Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt" bundled cartridge.

Another reason for Yoshi appearing in Mario is Missing is simply that he is nothing but a playable sprite in that game. Yoshi is much more than that, being mountable and able to swallow things, explaining why he couldn't appear in earlier Mario titles. When all of that is taken away, leaving him as just a moving sprite, he's much simpler. Understand me?

People, remember the NES cartridge didn't have enough memory at the time. this more recent cartridge must've had more memory capacity. and there's not much to mario is missing other than a few text.

I wonder if "Beavis and Butthead Do America" had anything to do with the cancellation of "Mario Takes America". The CDI game ended in 1994, and the movie's production started in '93 and announced its title in '94. It pales in comparison to South Park, but back then, Beavis and Butthead was considered really raunchy.

Interesting thing about that whole "Mario and Luigi in SM64" thing... skilled romhackers have figured out a way to make that work! Both the original game and a well known hack called "Super Mario Star Road" have been modified to allow that functionality.
