as a kid, i always thought the reason bowser kidnaps peach is just so he can eat her and this was a crazy enough example of how I'd imagine. Although, it's not the reason. XD

Thats the joke. in older games/movies (such as Mario Bros) there was quite often a "damsel in distress" theme, that a brave hero rescue a kidnapped lady and they fall in love. This sketch builds on that notion and Mario sort of "expects" that Peaches will fall in love with him. :)
