I think we know the reason we didn't get a sequel. Nintendo didn't like the portrayal of Mario and friends in this game. Especially Waluigi and his crotch chopping. That's too "hardcore" for Mario and thus, Nintendo won't revisit this game... and if they did, it'd be toned down quite a bit.

This game still is one of my favorites but it broke me. Roughly 15 years ago after doing the hardest difficulty about 100 times in a row only to be tackled by a frickin plant from half way across the field who then turned around with 2 seconds left of the game immediately scores (this was every game that I was about to win), my last match I ever played I finally had enough and threw the disc at the ground, shattering it. I never lost my cool ever like that, but I have mixed feelings of vengeance and regret. Love the series, hate the plant

I loved this game when I was younger, and still do to this day. Being a huge soccer fan makes it all the more appealing, naturally, but even beyond that it's just so much chaotic fun. Never did play it online though, and never really had friends to play with either. Would love to see it brought back on the Switch, too.

I think there was some kind of mario sport mix on wii With basketball, dodgeball, volleyball There were items as far as I remember For example a coins that would add to the point (or damage in dodgeball, since you needed to be KO'd to be out)
