This is one of the best podcast on fitness and nutrition i have seen recently.1 year of content presented succinctly in 2 hours by Mr Di Stefano. Great job moderating and channeling the discourse by the hosts .You need to listen to it twice and take notes.

@@megavegan5791 lol i just got there and what a dumb way to interpret. What has neoliberalism got to do with exercise.
@saldistefanomaps3 жыл бұрын
@@lalithrockz Although that wasn’t my point at all, his point has some validity. It’s the neoliberals that say lifting weights creates “toxic masculinity” and it’s the neoliberals that are promoting the false interpretation of “body acceptance” where being obese is “healthy” and being lean has nothing to do with lifestyle. Also, studies show that working out consistently tends to change ones political view points to more conservative ones (fact look it up) and this is probably due to the personal responsibility one learns from the pursuit of fitness. These days personal responsibility is opposite of the extreme liberal side which blames everything on race, gender or “systemic” whatever.
@MrGflan3 жыл бұрын
@@saldistefanomaps great point. When you look at this from the big 5 personality model, it makes a lot of sense. Conservatives tend to be higher in traits conscientiousness and orderliness. They just tend to want to work at things more by nature. I think this is why a lot of people who lift and who are goal oriented, competitive tend to lean conservative. It’s nothing against liberals, but when you look at others personalities you can understand people better rather than just shaking your head in disgust at their views. I also want to add that these days the extreme left tries to say that to be masculine is wrong and young men are in a real crisis. Combine this push with the lack of fathers in the home and we have a real problem. This is why Jordan Peterson got so popular. Young men are hungry for a means to work hard and take responsibility for their lives. I was fortunate to have a great dad to help guide me early on and teach me to work for things I want. Anyway, thanks for all your content. It’s very helpful. Gary

Thanks so much for this podcast. As a gym own, personal trainer , behavior modification and nutrition coach I battle with my female clients all the time. I tell them it’s easy to be thin, it takes strength training to get strong and give your body shape. We need to continue to get the word out now that metabolic syndrome is taking over our world. We need muscles to stay healthy!

Female here, been working out my whole life but got caught in the more and more cardio Hole the last couple of years and not much to show for it…it’s true, you may get smaller but doesn’t mean you look better. The answer is more muscle. Makes you tighter and sexier no doubt. Never been so motivated to scale back the cardio and attack the weights like I am now after having listened to sal on a few podcasts!

We're leaving out the part that when you decrease caloric intake growth hormones begin reduction, the muscles aren't full of glycogen that holds water and runners typically neglect strength training and protein intake so they look flat. Long distance runners are weak because they run all the time. So it's not the running that is bad for weight loss its the lifestyle that people adapt with it. Therefore I ran hard and Lift heavy and Im good
@tyleryoung36752 жыл бұрын
His point is most average people won’t do both. They’ll pick one. And they’d adapt the low calorie lifestyle too and end up weak and fluffy

i'm surprised i've never heard anybody have the same adverse effect with sugar replacements as i have... If i take aspertine my hand shakes and i feel out of control. From a workout standpoint, if you don't have control, what do you have? I find some protein powders also add some fake sugars which really have an effect on my ability to control the weight and my brain muscle mind connection. Maybe i'm just more sensitive to it than most people but i wanted to share my experience and why i'm afraid of it. I've literally pulled muscles because of it...

It’s true that muscle is orders of magnitude more metabolic than merely burning calories. But anecdotes about women eating 4 egg omelettes and burritos from chipotle give the wrong message and don’t reflect reality in the majority of cases. Caloric maintenance varies considerably from person to person. Even people with exceptional muscle mass (ex: John Meadows) can have relatively low calorie diets due to their personal caloric needs. Most people in the gym aren’t fat because they fail to do resistance training. They’re fat because they eat too many calories. And the leanest people in the world - those who participate in physique competitions - all do a ton of cardio.
@robertsaladino3 жыл бұрын
Is there any student of lifting who doesn't know these things? Many books have been written about resistance vs cardio...
