I think people forget that someone doesn't have to be innocent to have the right to life. Mark Duggan was far from a saint, but that doesn't mean anything. He was unlawfully killed, and I think everyone knows that. people get too hung up in the idea that an 'innocent person' was killed, implying that it would be any better if they were guilty. I don't think we need to focus on proving Marks innocence, but more so trying to get rid of this idea that you have to be innocent to deserve to live.

It would be amazing if you provided proof as a rebuttal against hers, she’s in no way prejudice or selective about the cases she talks about so what would make you think she lied about the facts to fit a “narrative”? You as an adult need to think logically, this happened 9 years ago and now history has repeated itself. So please tell me how killing a human will solve anything because to me that only causes more violence, in 2020 George Floyd was unnecessarily killed did that solve anything? No, it only caused protests and riots. Take a seat before you act like you know everything

You’re no better than the image you make of him. If he was really a criminal you’re one too, for thinking that the only solution is to kill when there’s other ways this could’ve been handled. I suggest you grow tf since you’re more immature than a 17 year old. How would you like it if your kid got murdered for something they didn’t do? So we were all sent home within minutes and escorted out by security and police. It was terrifying and I didn't know the full story of Mark Duggan back then, being about 16, but although I didn't agree with the rioting and looting, I can completely understand their anger and frustration. Hi! I do forensic research in university specifically on eyewitness recollection, and what you’re saying is generally true. As humans we do have a hard time remembering events, and things become even harder to remember when “fear” is involved (ex. violence, guns, loud noise, etc.). We do have a tendency to fill in the gaps of our memory which eventually become “false memories” when we replay it so often that it becomes our truth. Hope this helps!

I lived in a nearby town in London, and it was a massive heatwave at the time of the riots! I worked in a kitchen and we weren't allowed to open the doors for 2 weeks because the company was worried about the riots starting in our town, and being looted as the nearby shops had been, as we were fairly close. I really remember sticking my head out the door during the 3 day riots and you could hear a pin drop. It was like a mini lockdown of the local area of everyone being concerned it was going to happen here too. I was absolutely appaulled by the situation and knowing people who were trying to get into the riots or start one in this neighbouring town. RIP Mark Duggan, I honestly hope that noone forgets this injustice for him and his family. Thank you for doing this story, there were very few things I didn't know about this story, but it filled in gaps that the media were spinning.

Surely, even if Mark did throw his gun away, his killing still wouldn’t be justified. How can a person, having literally just disarmed himself be an imminent threat to anyone?! You can’t use a gun that is no longer in your possession. I don’t think the rioting was at all acceptable, but the police are notoriously criminally corrupt and should not just be let off because of their position in society. I believe that no one is above the law and Mark still deserves his justice. My heart breaks for his family!! Thanks for this video! 😘

K A I see your point of view, thanks for your reply! I think I’m referring more specifically to the point that Eleanor raised about the damage done to people’s livelihoods who weren’t police or rioters. I should have made that clear in my comment. I don’t know, I agree that peaceful protests aren’t always successful, but I don’t think it’s fair for ordinary people to deal with the collateral damage that these riots in particular caused. It is also important to remember that Mark’s family didn’t condone any violence or harm, they want/wanted answers and justice. I think we still need a lot of reform, but I think that that is most effectively achieved through discussion as opposed to rage...

my dad is a police officer, and about shooting in the arm or leg to disarm the victim/criminal/suspect whatever you may call It, is actually not what is trained. Shooting with a gun- this is a last resort when you feel in danger. When you shoot your gun, you shoot to kill because your family, colleagues, and anything important in your life is flashing before your eyes in this scenario. So tasing is the better option here.. my point here is that when officers shoot, they shoot to kill. That is what's trained. I asked this same question before

The whole throwing the gun thing doesn't make any sense to me. If he was somehow in the process of throwing the gun when he was shot shouldn't the police have seen that he was getting rid of the gun and not shoot him? In order for the gun to get that far he would have had to have already brought his arm back and then fully swung it and released or else the gun would have dropped either right behind or right in front of him when he was shot so there's no way they wouldn't have known what he was doing.

@@eleanorgouldie9355 so then, whether he was in the process of getting rid of the gun when he was shot like the official conclusion states or whether he threw it right after getting out of the cab, if he really had thrown it there would be no way that police wouldn't have realize that he was disarming/had disarmed himself which would mean that there's no way to call it a justified shooting. It's so ridiculous that they tried to brush it under the rug like that when even their own evidence seems to prove that they were in the wrong.

I binge-watch your videos while drawing because they help me focus and I'm always really interested in the cases that you cover, you have an amazing voice and are incredibly respectful when your treat these topics. this video so far was the only one that made me legit tear up, the picture that was demonized by media was just horrible. racial injustice is such a hard topic to cover and you did an amazing job, it's such a shame he didn't get the justice he deserved but alas, we live in a cruel world.

the thing with protests is that they get cooperated by marauders and people who wanna escalate things, most protesters are calm but anarchists, anti-social people, etc take over and start looting/destroying things. sadly that immediately casts a shadow on actual protesters who have a message and it's immediately tarnished

the whole way this was handled is absolutely infuriating, especially the way the media tried to paint this victim as a violent criminal. Those officers do not need anonymity they need to be held accountable for this murder that they not only committed but tried to cover up.
