I keep coming back to a planter style machine for the dominos. Able to straddle rows and systematically drop/place dominos within a parameter to avoid blemishes and obstacles in the flooring. Such as cracks and detritus that make dominos unstable. A surface reader and cleaner in front of the drop zone and maybe a shuttle system for preloaded cartridges for the domino refills. That would involve keeping a working road to the machine, kind of like dump trucks at a job site. You wouldn’t want the shuttle to plow through dominos already set. Lots of variables, looking forward to the solutions eventually implemented. Love the podcast and how excited Adam still gets problem solving and discussing different dynamics. Particularly in this one where he brought in his knowledge of tv production to someone about to start on their new show.

Surely you could construct an umbrella to function as a mobile/incognito(ish) partial Faraday cage. The coil flipping machine has my brain going. I'm thinking of basically one of those carnival/arcade coin pushers, but with a hinged "table" above it. Robot flips the coin, drops on the table, wait for it to settle, take a reading, then drop it into the hopper underneath. From there coins get pushed to the end, stacked, and transported back to the flipper-bot.

actually i came up with a really simple idea, just stretch a balloon or rubber across to make it flat and then pull it back and let it twang, if a coin is on the surface it will flip, but it probably wont land on its side which sucks, needs to land on a hard flat surface really

Also in the same category, I'd love to get some payback on people who discard their cigarette butts anywhere. Its dangerous! There have been brush fires started by people discarding their butts out on the side of the road while driving, and I had to personally put out a trash can fire that started because someone threw their still lit cigarette in the trash. Smokers can be so inconsiderate. I hate it when they smoke in their cars on the road and in other public areas, essentially forcing you to breathe in that disgusting and toxic odor.

That coin-flip device is actually not too hard. Use a narrow vertical wind tunnel setup (just a 3 inch ABS pipe would do) with a coarse mesh screen at the bottom, and baffles placed at random spots (and of random sizes) jutting into the tube for the coin to deflect off of (screws would work...like 100 screws sticking in and through it at odd angles). Pump enough air into the tube to lift the coin to the top (which would be some appropriately-scaled rough surface on which the coin would find unique resting positions, held there by the air, each time), and then turn the air off, and let the coin bounce around as it falls. When it lands, a camera could be pointing up at the coarse mesh screen (which would be appropriately illuminated)...use machine learning to teach it to identify heads vs. tails (or easier still, just color one side of the coin with black Sharpie, and the other with an equal weight of red Sharpie, and use a red light to illuminate it, so that the red Sharpie becomes basically invisible). The camera could be inside the air pressure chamber (if you make the chamber wide enough to accomodate it), or it could be looking up at an angle, through a clear pressure chamber. Whatever result is shown is the opposite of the actual result (since the camera sees the bottom of the coin, not the top). Automate it so that there's 5 seconds to get the coin up to the top, 5 seconds for it to fall, and however long (maybe 2 seconds) for a computer hooked up to the camera to identify what side is facing down. The above flipping machine would give you 5 flips a minute...it would take 2 weeks to get 100,000 flips. But if I was doing this, I would build maybe 9 separate tubes, each with a different arrangement of baffles, arranged in a 3X3 square. You'd need a bit more air pressure to get 9 coins to the tops of their respective tubes, but a computer could just as easily tell the side facing down of 9 coins as it could 1 coin. That would get the time under 2 days. [Incidentally, I'd do it this way over having multiple coins in the same tube, because if there were more than 1 coin in a tube, they could land on top of eachother, and that would be a harder problem to solve. Besides, it would be interesting to compare the results of each tube, and a computer could easily record them all separately, so that you could see if one of the tubes was somehow weighted towards heads or tails...or whether if it hit heads one time, it was more likely to hit heads the next or something. Knowing this, you could adapt that tube, and later get a more random result.]

Social Norm Violation: Being on your phone during a movie (at the theater or at a friend's home). Pouring yourself a cup of coffee before the brew is done so that you get the richest part and leave weak sauce for everyone else. Cutting in line in any form or circumstance. I'm unfortunately one of those people who pauses and explains the background of movies to people, and make sure they understand what is happening.
