True Mark coached Chael at BYU True Pedro didn't train much with him True Mark could crush anybody in class True he got a black belt. It was after his other coach named Walt Bayless said Mark was a black belt. That is when he bought the belt

Shultz had the performance of a high level olympic athlete but lacked the technical knowledge of the art of BJJ. In my opinion it was kind of douchebag of Mark. Such a big ego to do that.

I was actually having lunch with Mark and Walt Bayless and encouraged him to get a black belt. Even though he was Pedros student he trained quite a bit with Walt. I asked Mark what it would take for him to get a black belt from Pedro and how long it would take him to learn everything Pedro knows. We'd already established that Pedro couldn't finish Mark. Walt guessed he could get everything Pedro knows in about 6 months. At first Mark seemed kind of mad so I decided to drop it. Then Mark asked Walt where he could get a black belt and Walt offered to take him to get it after lunch. Mark asked Walt what he should do if Pedro told him to take it off. Walt said "just say no".

Vittori I like the guy, but his striking needs efficiency. He comes off a bit lunky to be a number 1. And yes, I come from a position to comment as best my coaching level would require. My creds aren't fab by any means but I do have coaching experience. Vittori would be shattering cinder blocks after I got done with him. He could be great. He may be great. Time will tell. He can be a champion if he stays on track and takes his striking to that elite level. He has the rest of the dynamic to be a champion.
