Fun fact: A nice clear, sunny day is roughly 10,000 Lumens per square meter. Mark could literally light up the daytime by 10x

Even an overcast day with scattered showers can be around 25,000 lux. For the sun, since it's essentially illuminating everything evenly, you can just convert from lux to lumens directly - so a 10,000 lux day is the equivalent of a 10,000 lumen light (over a small area). Because our eyes are so good at adjusting, we don't really think of a clear day as being _that_ much brighter than a really powerful artificial light, but it really is orders of magnitude different. Having said all that, that torch _would_ be illuminating whatever you point it at as if it was the middle of the day in summer - but distances and angles would make it less powerful, depending. You still certainly wouldn't want to look into it!
