I thought the same thing. I went through one a year ago and even though the doctor outright forbade sex in the first few months, the pain (and then the discomfort) would have prevented me. Not to mention that the first few weeks, in effect, the most you can do is walk. Even getting in or out of bed is difficult.

If your paranoia from past relationships is bleeding over into your current relationship - external factors non-withstanding - to the point that you think that a woman who literally just had her internal organs cut out and rearranged like an effing jigsaw puzzle has the emotional, hormonal or physical capacity to completely ignore medical advice and engage in any kind of infidelity, you need to get yourself into therapy, and actually educate yourself on reality. OP also needs better friends, because 'Dan' was stirring the pot. Not one emotionally mature human being out there would see a woman they know who has a known heart condition and is recently post-op from a freaking hysto and just goes starting crap about it, rather than offering to help her. The fact that she was still in post-op recovery AND had a heart condition AND was in a hardware store for me made it seem very unlikely that anything was going on. You have a LONG recovery from a hysterectomy, even if it's done laparoscopically, and no, she is NOT going around screwing another guy when she still struggles to walk.

The story of the girlfriend walking with the dark-haired man reminds me of a similar drama that happened with my brother and I and his girlfriend. I was home for a weekend during college and my “look” had changed significantly from high school to that time. Think crazy frizzy curls and oversized clothes in high school to a slicked back bun and more fitted clothes after some weight loss in college. I looked pretty different. I was walking with my brother by the shops in our hometown and one of his girlfriend’s friends saw us and reported back to his girlfriend. She was pissed. Until my bro was very matter of fact about it… Bro: “oh wait, was she this tall?” GF: “I dunno, I didn’t see her” Bro: “did she have short dark hair? I think she was hoping he would be ambushed and not have a chance to “come up with a lie”. I remember him walking inside the house after the “confrontation” and complaining “Now you’ve done it. You’re home for one second and already getting me in trouble!” And then he started laugh-explaining. The funny thing is, the friend had heard me before, and she knew that he had 2 sisters in college. I completely blame the friend for hitting him with that at such a horrible time. The friend could have knocked on her door and _asked_ her. If he really was suspicious, he could have played amateur detective if he had to and told/showed OP everything after he got back. It was mean as hell to do what he did, especially with the stress both of the couples had at the moment. It’s swarming with drama and people who WANT issues in other people’s lives so they can react to it. Ok, to the people saying she can't cheat while recovering, that only applies to one aspect of things. Cheating is more an emotional thing than the physical act, plus who is to say this is new. She can also give him pleasure in other ways in hopes of a return at a later time. Yes I did watch the whole video and was honestly not on board with the whole "she's cheating" only that things were weird. I'm happy how it turned out and not blaming any party for the confusion. I think I may know why they also had the blow up before him leaving, if she is a neat freak then the condition she can live in is one standard, having company come over is a much higher standard, combine that with her recovering and knowing her cousin is coming over to help with the surprise just sets her up for conflict with OP especially. Not saying OP don't deserve some but I think it just got kicked into overdrive with the extra stuff. I'm happy to hear a relation like this, I am in no way gonna blame OP for his fears as like the GF he had stuff also compiling his feelings, checking her e-mail was a bit much though. However outside of the e-mail he handled the situation quite well IMO as I tend to live by "Trust but Verify". He got the warning by a good friend, did not recognise the person so started looking for answers. It was just unfortunate combination of things that lead to a prolonged feeling of unease and no answers.

Then OP came to Reddit to see if he should be worried and even though some, maybe most, people were right, a lot of people poisoned his ideas. The surgery was also a big clue. While I can't speak to a hysterectomy, I have seen my wife through 4 C-sections and have some understanding of the discomfort. The fact that this woman was walking around a hardware store to build something for OP means she's a really good woman. OP better go all out on her birthday.

Story 1 - I can't believe he didn't do the obvious. She just had a hysterectomy, majorly invasive surgery. Instead of sending the friend to stalk her, why not just have the friend knock on the door and say "hey, OP asked me to check in on you once in a while to make sure you didn't need anything picked up at the store or whatever." And no, once he said what her surgery was, no way in hell was she cheating. Anyone that thinks otherwise has never had to take care of a woman after that type of surgery.

I just recently had a hysterectomy as well, and I have to say the Dr will tell you not to have sex (both v*ginal and an*l) for at least 6 weeks post op. So her cheating was not really something I would have expected

The biggest thing that made me wonder if it was just a project and not cheating was the whole multiple surgeries thing. A hysterectomy, and the heart condition...just seemed like a lot to work around to be screwing some dude. I admit that the part where the cousin said his dad doesn't use his phone often and would text gf from there was fishy to me, but there was quite a bit of evidence otherwise that I was hoping it wouldn't be cheating. And huzzah! It wasn't! SO glad OP stayed with his family. So glad gf is helping out cousin, and that they're doing something sweet for OP's bday. Also the fact that ppl gather to watch your videos in their office weekly makes me so happy :') everyone needs mark's videos and his kindness in their day.

Okay, this might just be me but I was throughly creeped out by both the boyfriend and his nosy, meddling friend throughout the whole story. Why the hell would the friend see the girlfriend in a hardware store with some guy, acting completely like she would with all her friends, and “warn” his friend. Creepy. And the boyfriend, for fucks sake, what a clingy, invasive type. He hears this and immediately violates her privacy and goes through her email. He sees an email that’s by no means suspicious but still decides that it is. And then he whines like a baby when she doesn’t call him at his preferred time at night, even though this isn’t abnormal by his own account and even though there’s good reason for it. He decides to screenshot all the “evidence” of her cheating because she called him later than he wanted her to. This whole thing is pathetic and creepy.

Yeah... Story 1 (haven't listened to update yet) sounded like she was hiding something from OP, but I can't imagine she'd be doing the horizontal tango after a hysterectomy when she can barely walk from the pain, and the fact that she was being so obvious about it around people who know OP doesn't seem to say affair. And a hardware store? I know they've got all the what to look for when picking up partners at the hardware store memes on TikTok or whatever, but all jokes about weird-ass memes aside, hardware stores don't sound like a romantic getaway to me. They sound more like a thing you would visit to get supplies for a project. My money's on them building something for OP, I agree with Mark on that.

I know people who have went through that surgery. No matter how creative you are? They would rather lay in bed all day knocked out with AC on full blast and ice packs. It's more painful than people give it credit for. To me it sounds like the friend OP has needs to get some therapy. He has some projection issues and could have caused OP to nuke his relationship. Even the text conversation seemed oddly unsexy for two people cheating. No cute pet names or "babe/baby" no mushy gushy "I love you". Initially, it sounded like cheating, but when I heard the truck was from her home state, they're in construction, and OP's birthday was coming, I changed to surprise. Just because the business is concrete, doesn't mean they don't have carpentry skills or no people. Heard this story before on other sites the girlfriend had a hysterectomy so is in no shape to have sex let alone exercise clean the the house light duty at work if she works difficulty moving around freely she would be in pain sex would be out of the question per doctor's orders in order to heal she could have sex in 6 to 8 weeks after recovery
