My guess is that he forced the king of clubs at the very beginning. After Brooke signs the card he scribbles over her signature for a very important reason which helps with the final reveal. All the tricks he does before the final reveal are just years of practice learning to locate cards. He also forces the number 5 to stop at because he himself placed the other kings in the deck and was able to put them in the 5th position in the piles. When he stands up to show the deck is now in his pocket and the king is in his hand he does a deck switch. Also most of those cards in the new deck are king of clubs with his scribble on them. With great control he keeps all of those cards face down. So it didn't matter which face down cards Penn chose. They were all the king of clubs with his scribble on it. It's the only way he could do that because the cards were on the table and not in his hands so he couldn't force the chosen card. That's just my guess. I could be 100% wrong. 😔 😊

​@@MrNukedawhales that's exactly what he did at 4:16 hidden from the view of Teller and his back to Penn. And if you notice MARKOBI puts the other 3 kings in the deck so he knows exactly where they are and he places them in the fifth position in the piles he himself made.

I think you nailed it. Definitely deck switch. And definitely great skill at controlling what looks to us as a mess. Like Dani Ortiz, he's totally in control of the mess the entire time
