iPhone 16 Pro Max 24 Hours Later: My HONEST Thoughts!

I've been using the iPhone 16 Pro Max for 24 hours now and my thoughts on it are a bit mixed.
The new camera control button is cool - but it does have its downsides. It's more time consuming to find what youre looking for compared to just touching the display. I only find myself using it to open the camera and thats it.
Battery life on the iPhone 16 Pro Max has been *excellent*. When Apple said its going to be the best battery life out of any iPhone, they werent kidding. As far as the new 48mp Ultrawide camera, my thoughts on it are a bit mixed.

@@davidarnovitz628 nope, i shoot 90% of my Pictures in Portrait...i have a Pixel and i can do it instantly with only my thumb...Zooming on the camera button is terrible, you have to swipe 10 times for a full zoom, the Display controls are much better and faster...and with a cover the new Button becomes very laggy... Gimmick...

Ah, classic Apple: selling you a phone today with features you can’t use until next year, like buying a car with "future flying capabilities" that’s still stuck in the garage. It’s like getting a plane ticket to a vacation, but the destination hasn’t been built yet. They should call it the iPhone “Soon”-where half the excitement is waiting for the stuff you actually paid for to show up, eventually. Maybe by the time your phone actually works as advertised, you’ll be ready to upgrade to the iPhone 17-which, spoiler alert, will come with even more “coming soon” features!

@@russvegaspd Same here. It IS worth selling (not trading!) the 14 Pro Max if you're still above 80% capacity and getting the 16 Pro Max instead of getting a battery replacement because it's a better value for your money, but it still feels like a minor upgrade.

This new iPhone will be good like every year but today, it's a no go. AI features will not be available in Europe before 2025 and we don't have an official release date. 👎🏿 I'm sad everyone is forgetting about Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL too. Pixel deserve more love.

I believe the reason AI is not releasing in Europe is because of EU laws/policy? Apple cannot halt release of products and software in the US because others are not able to have it. It would be the same if Apple was based in the EU and the US had to approve items prior to release?

The 17 ProMax will be better suited for AI features. It’ll have 12 gb ram & the camera design on the back will be different. It’ll also have a larger battery.

I was farting around with my 15PM with the beta 18.1 on it. Again, i was reminded about how boring it was. I barely use AI on my pixel 9Pro and S24 Ultra. Don't buy a phone just for AI. It's not going to be Earth shattering. Pick the phone that works best for you.

I find this quite interesting. Apple's usual and original design philosophy was to make phones with the least number of buttons and be thin as possible. This goes against that philosophy. It makes me wonder what is going on internally from a design perspective. Either way, I'm glad I have my Z Fold 6 and I just keep my iPhone 15 Pro for Apple Eco functions (Apple Card payments, verify ID, Find My, etc.). I haven't had a SIM in it since I got my Z Fold 6, I just use WiFi to access those functions. Thanks for the honest first impressions Mark!

It's a _lot_ faster too (CPU/GPU/NPU), so you can game without the screen dimming or overheating. It also charges faster, and it's now got Wifi 7. It also has spacial audio and better speakers, and the new photonic pipeline lets you customize your pic styles and tones both in-camera and in post, and allows for 4K Cinematic mode as well as 4K 120. I'm a patient guy and am willing to wait for Apple to roll out Apple Intelligence features when they're ready for prime time, gradually over the next year. It'll be like getting a new phone every couple of months.

I still have the iPhone 13Pro Max but even after watching this video I can’t see a reason to upgrade because I never use the phone’s camera to take photos since I use a mirrorless camera and then transfer all the photos to the iPhone. Basically I just use it to text, email, listen to music, so none of this applies to me 😂😂😂

I'd argue cars are closer to a golden age than phones. EVs are 9% of the market and were basically 0% in 2012. Hydrogen cars...exist. Strangely. Let alone other potential w/ self driving. Ironically the Model 3 had a bigger update this year than any since it existed. While the iphone has the least.

After seeing the 16 reveal, I decided to upgrade my 11 Pro 64gb to an excellent condition 15 Pro Max 1tb for under a thousand dollars. I got the 11 Pro used 3 years ago too. I’m pretty much set for the next 3+ years. I tested the new camera button and everything said in this video was spot on. They basically added another notch island on the screen lol. The way I see it Apple has reached a point where there's literally nothing new they could do for their new Phones but couldn't justify leaving them exactly the same so they added that redundant button. In downloaded video playback, yes. That’s the way Apple measures battery life. But in practice, it lasts roughly an hour or more than the 15 Pro Max.

I upgraded from the 14 PM. Honestly, the camera button is definitely a gimmick. After 2 days, I'm back to using the screen. Frankly, the Action button isn't all that necessary either. I wonder what Jobs would think of all the buttons? As the phone goes, if it were not for the buttons, I would hardly be able to tell the difference from my 14 PM. I've pretty much resolved to upgrade every year through AT&T, so I'll live with this & see what Apple adds or subtracts from the next one. Odds on that camera button being there???

I really don't like the way the video looks on 5:22. The "jitteryness" can be due to 30 FPS slowed down from 120 FPS, which wouldn't be ideal, but acceptable for a phone, but the colors, dynamic range and shape of the leaves is imo just horrible - it doesn't look anything like 4K, but more like QHD or FHD scaled up or sth.

Re: The night photo looking better with the 15, the same physical size sensor with less pixels will generally perform better at night, as each pixel is larger on the sensor so it can absorb more light. So I'm not overly surprised by this. That's why DSLRs with huge sensors perform so well in the dark.
