The world's smallest interchangeable lens micro four thirds camera is a true joy to use for both photography and high quality video. I've been using this almost daily for years. It literally fits in your pocket and can use any MFT lens out there. Great depth of field and bokeh gives a wonderful cinematic look. A great travel and vacation camera, great for street photography. It's so small, it looks like a toy. They don't make these anymore, but there are still a number of them on ebay... although after this video, they will probably be harder to get lol. Enjoy the video!

Incredibly refreshing channel, personality, and perspective on photography. I’ve lately fallen out of the art, passion, and experience of photography, and I’ve gotten so caught up on gear, RAW, editing, and all that. I started to obsess over technology too much and really stopped having fun. I almost quit photography because it just wasn’t enjoyable anymore. My pictures started to suck because they were more technical, then they were natural. Markus, you’ve got me inspired to make photos again instead of take photos.

I totally agree with your feeling for this camera. Myself after years of various cameras, most of which I have enjoyed, I have been using the Olympus E-PL8 a lot these past two years. Like the GM1 it is tiny, and no one takes it seriously, but the results are way above average. With the Panasonic 20mm lens I have images, which I have sold at exhibitions. Photography IS about passion, not the latest gear !

You're the man, @MarkusPix. The way you handle your shots is properly inspiring. Your videos are a breath of fresh air in this consumerist and extremely social world. Correct exposure is one of the best skills to learn when dealing with any cameras. This way, even if one has the latest and greatest, then suddenly uses a 50-year old Olympus, he/she will still get good shots. By the way, I still have my GM5. I purchased it 5 years ago when it was already on sale with the 2 lenses. I was in the store ready to purchase an RX100 and then I saw the little camera. I learned it was MFT and I had to go home to do some research about it. I got the black one. I use it for all sorts of photography, even with astro. In the streets, it's virtually invisible, even with my 25mm F/1.7 lens. Now, I am just surprised how many people are looking for the GM5 after the line was cancelled by Panasonic due to poor sales. I can even sell my GM5 body for more than my purchase price for the whole kit, but I am not going to do that. I am also amazed by capabilities of the tiny camera. I agree that sometimes, people look for things that they don't have. The GM5 is not for sale anymore but they keep on overlooking the G100, which I think is more of a resurrection of the GM5 but with much more features. It is very well-priced now. It has a good tapered grip and a rather punchy viewfinder. The body size is close to the GM5 minus the EVF bump. I know a couple of people who own the GM5 and purchased the G100 just because they feel the same as I do about the G100. I know the online community/gear reviewers bashed it but I just can't see why. Perhaps, if they own it, they would its value. It's selling like pancakes in India, though. Cheers from New Zealand and stay safe!

It's so easy to get lost in the hype of the "latest and greatest". Then you spend all that time learning the new tricks the gear can do which only takes time and attention away from making your ideas into a production or tempering your skills so you can tell your stories in more visually interesting ways. I cherish that I learned on film. It not only helps keep your mind grounded when the shiny new stuff comes wagging its tail in your face saying "buy me, buy me" but it gives you a greater understanding of how it all works and the things that are rooted deep that remain under the hood of digital from the film days remain for a reason. Thanks again, Markus. I truly enjoy your insight and the occasional reminder of where we should focus.

Personally I use canon eos m, an old nikon coolpix p100 and a old nokia 6.1 2018 for my KZbin channel ,this guy spike my language 👍 because with these equipment I'm learning cinematography and photography ,how to overcome the shortcomings how to make my shots look more cinematic and how to set up theme wisely 🙂so whenever I get my first fool frame I will be more confident, it's like learning how to drive, it's always hard to learn with mechanical transmission rather than automatic 😉 so good point 👍 and if story telling is interesting, it doesn't matter what it was shot on ,I would watch it all day 👍

4k and postprocessing is for beginners only ;) you speak right out of my heart. got my first cam and took pics since i was 4y old boy. went through all the stuff including selfmade pinhole cams et al. i am sorry the lenses and cams got away, lol. i stuck to nikon sonce i was 15 or so as i got a lens for free and needed a camera. so i sold my old yashica and got an FA. i love it so much. i used a kodak 14n as my first digicam, then got an fuji s2pro, s5 and now a pen-f. the reason i stuck to nikon was all the lenses i collected. but what i wanna say is... i take my pics all staright out of the cam, not post at all, just a crop maybe. and nothing beats the colors of the s5, and even in 2005 my FA with an attached MD15 was faster than every digicam you could afford these times for personal use. lol.. and full hd is realy enough, your video looks awesome.

I share this man's philosophy. Probably the same reason that I shoot traditional "stick and string" archery bows rather than complex Olympic recurves or modern compound bows with their sights, pulleys, balance rods etc. The joy is in making the shot based mostly on your own efforts and instincts rather than relying so heavily on the technology. I would actually love an interchangeable lens digital camera for stills which only had adjustments similar to what film cameras had i.e. the ability to change aperture, shutter speed, ISO plus white balance. Add to this focus control (auto or manual plus focus area/point) and I'm happy :-).

You’re philosophy is my philosophy. Ideally I’d like to pack everything into one backpack (regular jansport) and have a dslr flip up, mobile phone for video, any kind of small fold out cage for either. ipad or mac to edit.

I have full frame and apsc. My fav camera is the ricoh gr3. Just so small and fun to use. Small is great. Love to see your view on this camera. I hate big things. Photography is about having fun. I agree with you. Saved long to get my ricoh and worth the save. Got a lumix gx1 and enjoying it. Why carry something big and heavy.

I have 2 Panasonic GF3's. Same thing, basically. They shoot 1080 mov or AVI. Interchangeable lenses. MF3. The biggest issue is critical focus. Amazing!

I'm so glad I found you! I'm a small-handed woman and there are NOT enough KZbinrs talking about smaller tech, much less older tech and above all, that it's really about the ART! I have had full frame larger cameras that gave stunning images but I could NOT connect with them. If I can connect with a camera and make images that make me happy, I'm thrilled! I will search for the GM-5 though because I need/prefer a viewfinder built in. Would love to try it! Thanks for your video.

Yes, I have one GM1 of the same orange colour. I carry it for hiking and trail running; I like it because it is small. I have been shooting a few hundreds thousands photos, and it is still working fine. I am waiting to upgrade to one after GX9 ... still waiting from Panasonic.

Lumix gm1 was my first mirrorless camera paired with 25mm f1.7...and i love it.. then someone stole it... so i bought the lumix lx100.. and later on bought the g85 and the 12-40 2.8 olympus lens. Ive been using it for 3 years now for paid gigs and youtube but right now im using an action camera for my main youtube camera.. the insta360 one r with 1 inch sensor. Its so small but packs really good features. Of course it is far from being perfect but since i know what im doing and use some lights (diy) i still get good videos out of it. And p.s. i dont shoot 5k (even though that action camera can do it) hehe..

Yeah, it's amazing that you created a photography channel for Cara. Even when you travel you photograph Cara only, she is the only subject of your entire "art/work". Since our granddaughters arrived they are the only subject i am interested in. I've just picked up a 2014 video camera, the Sony AX100, since i don't really keen to mess with the heavy FF gear I have. I fully agree, 1080 is absolutely a sweet spot for videography. The 50 Mbps files give me enough hassle. 100 Mbps 4K is too much. Even when I record 4K i convert the edited movie to 1080 and delete the original files.

I completely agree with you mate! I used to shoot with heavy Canon bodies and L series lenses. Got great results don't get me wrong but they were terrible for travel and wanting to keep things light weight. In 2015 I swapped to Olympus OMD cameras and the wonderful M.Zuiko lenses and life is much easier and better for my photography. It's such a pleasure to see older gear like the GM1 producing amazing results even in 2021. I'll be sure to keep my eye open for one at some point. Great work mate, keep it up!

(I couldn't help and bought it for myself now lol) I got a Panasonic HC-V360M a while ago. It's a cheap camcoder but I'm 100% satisfied with this. I shoot insects, nature and the Moon with it. I enjoy it a lot. And you have Cara too. Such a lucky guy you are who have both the charming little camera and the beautiful woman! lol I'll look for that camera for my possible next purchase. I like how Panasonic (or National/Matsushita Denki) takes images. (I heard they have their unique image processor(?)) oh I'm Japanese, can read Japanese, but the problem is, I'm in Japan lol You make me feel good being Japanese~~
