Instead of the canon adapter i would highly suggest the villtrox speedbooster for the m50. Makes your camera closer to a "fullframe" camera, so a 50mm would be a 55mm instead of a 80mm with the 1.6x crop.

Not a top 10 item for most people, but you can't overlook many of the various speedbooster options available on the EF-M. If you already have a bunch of FF glass, it will adapt well to EF-M minimizing the crop factor. Biggest downside is the size and heft of FF glass on EF-M making it difficult to hold with one hand.

Nice job, Mark! When you use the Zoom F1-SP, do you typically record directly to the camera? Or do you record to the Zoom, then sync in post?
@markwiemels
@markwiemels 3 жыл бұрын
No, I always record to the recorder. That gives the camera audio as a backup track, if something goes wrong. If you plug in the pass through wire to the camera, and something goes wrong, you get no audio track in the camera or recorder.

Hi - would the EF to EF-M adapter work a bit as a Macro extender ? From your descriptions it sounds possible...? Thanks
@markwiemels

No, but you an add macro tubes to it, the adapter just adds the distance the lens needs to work. It puts the lens in the same position, form the sensor, that it would be in a DSLR.

Also what are the must have lens on this camera for street photography especially in low light ie at night and a cinematic look

My favourite street lens is the EF-M 32mm. The best way to bypass the time limit is run an hdmi cable to USB capture dongle, then into the computer. Use a battery eliminator to make sure the battery doesn’t die. I will try and do a video about it.

@markwiemels
@markwiemels 3 жыл бұрын
On my camera the screen can be closed, with the screen facing into the camera, but it does not “click” into place. This really isn’t an issue for me as I would only close the screen, with the screen facing in, to protect the screen (which is now protected by the screen protector). You can also turn the screen on and off manually, if you don’t want the screen coming on, and want to only use the viewfinder.

Thanks for the video. I got a template glass for my M50 but it doesn't allow the screen to be complete closed. Could you please confirm you can close the screen and it closes perfectly? Also, does the frame scratch the camera in any way? I saw another camara when they took the frame off the cámara body has some scratches/marks from the frame touching the cámara body. Thanks again for the video.

My screen protector stops the screen from clicking in when closed, and the screen facing in. For me the only reason to face the screen in, is to protect it, and so with the protector on I don’t worry about it. You can also turn the screen off and the EVF on, manually, if having the screen turn in bothers you. My cage has not cause any damage to the camera, there are number of different cages and versions of the cages, I have linked the newest, and best one, in description.

Great explanation on your video. I'm fairly new to my M50 and I have a few mobility issues. Was wondering if the handipod that you described is the best for me? At this time in my adventure I'm mostly interested in landscape photos. Is a full sized tripod my best option? If so which one would you recommend?
@markwiemels
@markwiemels 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you want a full size tripod. I have one that I have been testing, and would recommend, I should have a video covering it soon.

But I want to go take pictures? So I'll have to buy the handipod until then?

Thanks for the informative video! I ordered a few things from your suggestions. I do have a question regarding external flash which do you recommend and would it use a trigger for remote capability? Thanks again.
@markwiemels
@markwiemels 3 жыл бұрын
I will try to do a video about my flash setup in the next few days. I have just completely changed systems, and sold off my Canon made flash system. This is the trigger - geni.us/LOQG This is the flash - geni.us/8ae1k I use the trigger and up to two of the flashes (one is plenty to start with). This is a high end professional level setup, which has better function than the genuine Canon flash system, and for far less money. The flash battery goes all day and recovers for the next shot almost instantly, my mind was blown the first time I used it.

@@markwiemels Hi again :) I just read that macro tubes can sometimes damage a camera. Could you tell me how were you able to determine that these would not damage a Canon M50? In addition to considerations about electronics, someone had a comment that, "One thing to watch out for, these tubes create a new focusing distance range. Some lenses might 'hunt like crazy' back and forth if pointed at a subject out of that range, which is not a healthy thing for the focusing motor"

Won’t damage your lens, will be fine. This is kinda nonsensical advice.
