I see lots of comments in any of Mark’s videos questioning why he eats with fingers instead of utensils. Come on, it is really a personal preferences on how you want to eat your meal. In many Asian countries including Indonesia, eating with hands is a culture thing but it’s again up to you. Also it depends on what kind of food it is, if it’s soupy of course you need spoon to eat it. In Indonesia, ALL restos and warungs provide spoons & forks or chopsticks, so don’t worry you still can eat with civilized standard if you don’t want get your fingers dirty. Mark is just showing us how he respect the locals and the purest way to enjoy the local meals. Thumbs up to Mark and Ying and lovely Micah -- much love from Jakarta!! Xoxo

By the way mark, Lombok in Indonesian language indeed means chili (chili = lombok or cabe). However Lombok as in the island name itself does not mean chili. It is named in Sasaknese (native language of Lombok) and it means straight (in Indonesian - lurus). Just to clarify... and even many Indonesians do not know that those two are what we call 'false friends' in two different languages Cheers

Ok mark hopefully since this just posted I was hoping u Would see this and answer a question I asked last week. What was ur favorite chicken ? The kind ying used to stop at when they were growing up and stopped at that roadside place where they dipped the chicken over and over again or the chicken u posted last week or this one here today because they all look amazing. I understand if u can't answer for fear of offending one cuisine over another
@MarkWiensVlogs7 жыл бұрын
Hey Diane, it kind of depends on my mood, the one Ying brought me to is sweeter with coconut milk, but this is more spicy, probably would prefer overall ayam taliwang. And this one here, might be the best of the best, because they only grilled their chicken. Whereas the other place for ayam taliwang in the other video, deep fried it first, then grilled it. But again, kind of depends on the day, and what I prefer.
@ditackett7 жыл бұрын
MarkWiens Vlogs thank u. After I posted that I got to thinking about the spice factor knowing how u like ur spicy foods I thought u might prefer the heat and I couldent remember if the one ying liked was sweet or not. Thank u. Be safe and thanks for sharing this amazing food with the world.

i love the fact that this place of ayam taliwang is grill the chicken from raw until it cooked, the taste must be better than other place. Not many place doing it especially in jakarta, they do half steam/fried then dip it into sauce then grill only for finishing only. Maybe it time consuming, and they cannot keep with the customer if do it like in this video.
