Marky's autobiography is a great read. Better than most rock and roll memoirs. Johnny comes off as pretty mean and nasty- especially towards Joey. Not to mention stealing Joey's girlfriend which broke his heart. Joey was a walking OCD nightmare. Holy shit. You gotta read it to believe how bad he had it. Dee Dee would steal anything - even from his own band mates.

+James Morris it's easy to feel sorry for Joey. The guy had oodles of mental/emotional issues not to mention physical problems when he was younger. But he was basically a good guy. Johnny, on the other hand, ruled the band with an iron fist. And being the leader, it fell to him to take care of a lot of the band logistics, something Joey and Dee weren't capable of. Johnny was a hard ass to the end, refusing to even call Joey when Joey was dying of cancer.

I get the feeling that the virtual band Gorillaz was heavily based on the Ramones and the Sex Pistols. But more so the Ramones than the Sex Pistols. Except for the blue hair thing, 2D is almost exactly like Joey because 2D is really tall, really skinny, had weird eyes which caused an impairment in this vision, he also had similar mental and physical impairments and 2D never forgave Murdoc for shagging his girl friend in the toilet, Steve Jones style, and then kicking her out of the band. Merdoc is a cross between Johnny, Dee Dee and Steve Jones because Murdoc is a real douche bag to everybody especially 2D, who he tortures on a regular basis. Also Merdoc would steal anything from anybody and he met 2D when he attempted to steal a truck load of keyboards for his new band. Although Noodle is female and she was 10 years old when she joined Gorillaz, she is an amazing songwriter and she wrote a lot of their songs. Where Russel is like Tommy besides the fact that both Tommy and Russel are amazing drummers is that the Ramones originated In New York and Tommy was from Hungry while Gorillaz originated in London and Russel was from NYC.

Joey Ramone always reminded me of a 6 foot 5 stick insect with a big wig and sunglassess sorta mixed with that dude from the big fish movie and the devils rejects Matthew McGrory

I met those guys after a show in 91. I always thought Joey was really tall, because he looked like it in the photos. He was my height exactly(6'3"). He just looked hyper-tall in the photos because the other guys were all shorter than him, plus Joey was extremely long-legged. I stood there and talked to him for several minutes, and even though we were the same height, his legs came up about level with my bellybutton.
