It's weird that when we are younger without as much to cover we put it all on, and when we get older and may want more coverage we can't pile it on anymore. I use concealer strategically for my 'foundation'.

The NYX concealer in the pump has been life changing for my dry aging skin - the only product I can wear without looking like a cake face. I use it as foundation. The only product that smooths my skin and doesn't cling to texture you can't otherwise see.

I am in my early 60’s. Through trial and error I have adopted most of these tips. It’s good to hear I am on the right track. The one tip I would add is Don’t skip a moisturizing skincare routine prior to makeup application. It takes a little experimentation to find the products which work well under makeup without pilling. In my twenties and thirties I could get away without prepping my skin. Now it’s a must.

This is a great video! Thank you both! I have probably 20 years on you ladies, and I agree with your statements. I have Rosacea, and I FINALLY learned to use foundation only around and on my nose to cover the redness. As you said, it’s all in the center of my face-but it looks SO much better! The best point you made was that makeup is FUN! We need to TRY things, if it doesn’t work, wash it off! Try something else! I’ve loved makeup since I was TWO! I’m nearly 62, and I adore it! Not stopping now!

Thanks for the ideas! I'm older and if I'm going to use eyeshadow a primer is a must. Sometimes I can get away with a matte nude look without having lids that look like a jigsaw puzzle but mostly the lines are there without something to fill the cracks first. Also as I've aged I'm finding cream shadows more forgiving than powder.

Please, let‘s just strive for a bit of honesty here. Do shinier lipsticks fill in fine lines better and give the lips a fuller appearance? Absolutely. But the whole „when I wear this people ask if I got filler and I‘m like no it‘s just this lipstick and the way I apply it“ thing is really phony here. These are not Marlena‘s original lips. And that is fine and a personal decision. But be up front about it. For those of us, like me, who have been following you since the start, we‘re not blind. Just be honest about it.

I’ve changed my makeup techniques completely as I hit 60. Nothing under the eyes: no concealer, no liner, no mascara. I have fine lines, but they look better without makeup. I start my foundation on the outer edges because that’s where I need discoloration coverage. On my lips I wear a lip pencil that is not creamy and fill in my lips but I don’t take it all the way to the edges since they are beginning to downturn slightly.

Treti-suncreen for a lovely skin, at home device + ATO radiofrequency sessions to keep the lower third in its place and Happy Halloween every day! That 2009 photo🥹, I was there! The nostalgia🥺... As you get older creams and liquids I think are a must. They melt into the skin and look so much more natural and flattering, but it also doesn’t last as long as a powder obviously so my question is, Patrick Ta recommends putting a powder blush down then a cream over it to bring back that skin like look to the cheeks and it always looks gorgeous and more natural. I’ve done this with other blushes and get the same result. So why are we told to avoid putting creams and liquids over powders but recently have been told to do that exact thing? Why does it work sometimes and lifts the makeup or causes patchiness etc other times? Also, why do we sometimes get pilling while other times we do not, even if it’s with the exact same products?

Lisa is the nicest person. She truly is. She was incredibly kind to me with an order of BK brushes. Downright charitable. I think I suggested BK beauty brushes to every influencer. A few days before Nikki came out with her Collab, she used a different brush than BK and I left a message, asking her why she was using another brush brand! I am just so happy for Miss Lisa and Mr. Paul, and for everyone else who benefits from the brushes. That would be anyone who uses them. I promise.

Thank you for these ideas. I enjoy seeing the two of you together and having fun. I also appreciate that you are sharing things from your personal experience, and I am going to try a few things this week to see how they work for me. :-) I have learned that for me, I need to pay much more attention to skin prep before applying makeup. I have dry, sensitive skin, and I need to make sure that I am moisturized well before applying makeup. My facial shape has changed a little bit, so I have started lifting my blush and highlighter a little bit higher on my cheeks instead of putting them on the apple of the cheek. Finally, I have to pay a lot more attention to ingredients, especially in foundation, because I find that denatured alcohol causes problems for me. My skin has always been sensitive, but it has become more so over time.

Back in the day women used to bathe with their makeup on to get that glowy look to the skin, or lay a moist washcloth over their face. Now we have setting mists that not just put moisture back into the skin but gets rid of that flat matte, powdery and cakey look. The sponge also makes a huge difference to get a more skin like appearance while being able to even out our skin and add color back on the face. Before the beauty sponge, they used those wedges and before that they used their fingers with the warmth of the body to get that seamless look. We’ve come a long way with beauty products and inventions. Now they even sell “skincare” brushes when any brush will do ya.😂

The BK beauty brushes are really nice. I think I first saw you talking about them and I went ahead and bought one brush. I think it was an eyeshadow brush and I really liked it. So I went ahead and bought the eyeshadow set of Lisa's at Ulta. And I really am enjoying using those brushes. I'm actually thinking about going ahead and getting the bigger brushes that come in a set. I got to say well worth the money. I've been using makeup since I was 11 years old and I've been in theater professionally since I was 16. Now I'm a professional entertainer and I do enjoy those brushes. I think the price point is excellent and the quality is top notch. Thanks for developing such a good and yet affordable product. I am 70 years old BTW

Maybelline build a brow 2 in 1 and the Maybelline Tattoo Styling gel is where it’s at if you aren’t comfortable doing your brows or hate that harsh, drawn on, Groucho brow so many have. These give real hair like strokes (build a brow) or a thicker fuller but soft brow with the styling gel. Highly recommend. They are fool proof. That Elf lip exfoliator is amazing and because it’s in a stick, it’s not messy and easy to throw in your bag to take with you while staying hygienic, unlike those pot scrubs etc you have to stick your finger in. Elf has been killing it lately with great products, although this is an old one they’ve just repackaged better.

I'm almost 60 and I definitely see how my eyes are starting to angle downward where they used to be straight across. I compensate by doing a winged eyeliner just at the outer third of my eyes. I may start wearing partial falsies there too, though so far I've stuck to mascara only. I also find it important to treat my face as several faces, instead of applying products all over as if all my skin was the same. It's not the same texture, dry/oiliness, pore size, even color, so why would I think one product would work on my entire face? Makeup winds up either looking unflattering in some spots, or too caked on as I apply additional products to sections trying to compensate for the wrong product applied there in the first place! Instead I just focus on using sponges to blend the edges of how I've treated different sections as they each need to be treated. I think it works. The other day I asked a neighbor if she thought the new foundation I was trying out looked like the right shade for me and she actually commented on my blush. She thought the blush was the foundation, because on the rest of my face she couldn't tell I was wearing anything at all! But yeah, my skin isn't that flawless. I don't look like that with nothing but blush. LOL

I am SO glad I never participated in any of the "pluck the brows to tiny lines" fads!! Granted, i almost had Brooke Shields brows, but so relieved i only cleaned them up because i was too lazy and never liked thin brows on anyone... so now my brows are about perfect since they've thinned a tad! These videos are so full of helpful info!! ❤ I have to be honest about dark liners on the waterline... I'm old enough that while growing up in the 70s-80s lining the waterline was considered trashy... I just can't get past that. I've noticed that now the actress Kelly Reilly always lines her eyes this way, on and off sets, and she's almost the only woman I can think of that just looks spectacular with her eyes lined that way. It just does not flatter most people. But just an ingrained opinion. 😂❤

42 here and I stopped wearing black eyeliner on top lid as much because I feel like it started to age me unless I wear a super thin line. Something I noticed too is now a lot of my bright red lipsticks aged me too even with lipliner. I saw a tip where a makeup artist warmed up the red on her hand and pressed it and it made the color look less severe. Starting to think muted red lip colors are more my friend.

As I get older I started preferring a shimmer shadow. I’m basic though a bit of bronzer in the crease then a soft shimmer. I miss lip liner in the 90s haha it was either a brown or black eyeliner to get that Guess girl supermodel look.
