1st listen: ooh this one's pretty, actually 2nd listen: oh, hold on, this is really emotional. Why am I feeling this so much? 3rd listen: *puts it in my top 5 I just love this one. It's simple and sincere and conveys the emotion perfectly. I have my fingers crossed she makes it to the final.

This song gets better the more you listen to it and the more you reflect on how often we all feel "saudade" but are at a loss of words for how to express this feeling. A brilliant blend of English and Portuguese as a beautiful meta commentary on Eurovision itself. Eurovision songs often are written in English to be more "accessible". And this song starts in English to draw listeners in. While the English in this song is still impactful, it's when the song transitions to Portuguese that we find the deepest beauty in this song. There truly is no way to describe, in English, the feeling of Saudade. And it's that feeling that connects most with listeners. Such simple yet effective production. Absolutely beautiful.

Beautiful song. I like the simple staging, it doesn't need much more, I think, it's fitting enough. It's about her missing her grand father, Who passed away, but of course you can also make it fit to your own situation.

Loved your comments, Saudade is a word for a sad state of intense longing for someone or something that is absent. Saudade comes from Portuguese culture, and it is often expressed in its literature and music. Saudade is described as a kind of melancholy yearning... Go Portugal let's go win eurovision 2022

Saudade translated into English, means "longing" ... the lyrics in the part that is in Portuguese is a gem

A song about losing someone yet taking comfort in the feeling of saudade, which is an untranslatable word that loosely means longing for or feeling nostalgia. In the case of losing someone that was important to you (relative, lover, etc.), it’s a feeling of treasuring the good memories and feelings felt with that person. This is quite a classic, timeless song that we will continue to hear even if it ends up in last place at Eurovision.
@ricardoveloso75572 жыл бұрын
Saudade is a term derived from the Lusitanian culture, first Galician and Portuguese, which indicates a form of melancholy, a feeling of nostalgia. Etymologically, it derives from the Latin solitude, solitudinis, solitude, isolation and greetings, greetings and greetings. In some ways, saudade is a kind of nostalgic reminder, affecting a special good that is absent, accompanied by a desire to relive it or to possess it. In many cases, there is almost a mystical dimension, such as acceptance of the past and faith in the future.

I like your comment but I have to ad something that I don’t see mentioned anywhere: how female empowering this is. In an event where we expected the female performers to show their cleavages and legs, although the five girls are beautiful and they would look great in sexy outfits, they show such a serenity and grace just sitting there and giving and incredible emotional performance. Nothing again legs and cleavages but this is definitely another level. Never followed Eurovision but, as Portuguese I’m really proud of how profoundly different this is. 🥰

Saudade is more than that. It includes the sadness of missing something or someone but also the joy of the memory. Missing is bad, having "Saudades" is good. It means your sowl is feed. It is a word born in the heart of people who saw husband's going to the sea, a sun going to the war, family migrating, but kept the hope in the return and/or the memory of love.

When Salvador Sobral won the Eurovision, he said "music is not about fireworks, music is about feelings". The word "saudade" cannot be translated, it means the feeling of loosing, something, someone. You feel "saudade" when you don't see your beloved ones. Even though most people don't know this word and meaning, when you heard it, you feel happines,sadness, whith chills, vibes, nostalgy. It's a word that travels your feelings. Absolutly astonishing song. I don't care if we will win or not, this music makes me feel............. Proud to be Portuguese. "...music is not about fireworks, music is about feelings..." Salvador Sobral.

This song is just perfect. Everything about it sounds magical and unique. It will stand out in Turin for being so fresh and pure... Besides people will identify themselves to the lyrics, especially now that we are living such terrible moments. I can see this doing pretty well with both national juries and the public. ❤️

Maro is the leadsinger and the other girls are backing vocals. Saudade is a Portuguese word that is used when you miss someone you haven't been with for a long time or a person who has died and you miss them. It is also used when you miss something you no longer have or something that you've done in the past or that haven't been done for a long time. In short, saudade describes the lack of something or someone who is no longer present or memories of something that has been done.In this case she is singing about her grand father that past away.

Maro -- her artistic name -- composes super beautiful songs. Her latest CD can be found all over KZbin. 'SAUDADE' cannot be translated into English. Saudade is very specific Portuguese... It is a bit like feeling blue... super nostalgic... missing someone... or missing something... to the point of feeling pain as a result... I read that Maro wrote this song when her grandfather died.

In her presentation video, Maro revealed that she wrote "saudade, saudade" to remember her grandfather, who recently died. "It wouldn't make much sense not to be me singing such a personal theme", stressed the artist. Maro is the artistic name of Mariana Secca, from Lisbon, who grew up in a family environment marked by music, began studying piano at age four, attended the conservatory and studied at Berklee School in Boston, United States.
