I love how Angel & Marcus said their marriage isn’t hard. As a single person I’ve been afraid of marriage because people make it seem so difficult. They put my mind at ease a bit. Praying that I have a marriage that isn’t hard one day.
@jeezfome3283 Жыл бұрын
They didn't say it was hard but the challenges that they describe is the same as everyone else. What is different is their approach to challenges and the way they view issues. Marriage can be hard but so is being single. Marriage is also extremely great and rewarding. I've been married for almost 14 years. My husband is my absolute bestie. It's great to have someone that looks out for me and always has my back. It's great to have someone to snuggle with, cry on, vent to, and most of all, pray with. marriage is sometimes hard but always beautiful.

What I got from this interview is that marriage is hard...for some. For others, marriage may not be as challenging. Maybe it has everything to do the personalities of individuals in the relationship. Great interview. Every relationship is different. A scholar once said, love is like a fart. If you have to force it, then it's 💩. LOLOLOL Crazy but true.

Exactly … personalities have everything to do with it. Liss said her and Kev are total complete opposites so their marriage is probably a bit more challenging then others. My parents make it look like like a cake walk they just say you need to be friends but from watching them I see there is a lot of letting insignificant things go.

I understand challenging vs. hard. There’s some tests that’ll take more effort to overcome but enormous effort is not necessarily needed that would make it “hard”. Plus, Angel & Tank let each other be lol. That acceptance makes things a little easier and make them more open to express differences.

Always a great time with you 4. But, man, when Marcus said Angel tried to break out relationship questions while they were on vacation, as a fun thing to do, and Melissa cosigned, I felt heard. I had the nerve to buy a question game for my husband. We played ONCE!!! 😂😂😂 I had the nerve to get an attitude when he wasn't going deep like I wanted him to. I don't understand why dissecting our relationship, and talking about deep feelings is not a good time. What is wrong with men? Lol.

I, too, wonder this question. It probably has everything to do with them not being equipped to grapple with their feelings because they are not allowed to feel as children. So, as adults, it feels like a chore to go deep, not like fun.

You all are two of my most favorites couples to-date. You represent two completely different types of marriage that I’ve seen over and over not work and yours DOES. The things that slowly grew, fear and walls within me made me not even want it. I’ve learned a ton listening to the four of you throughout the years. The standout for me is, if we care about the things that mean something to the other person and not so much “but this is the way” big moments won’t always FEEL so big and draining. And TANK…. the way you speak about your wife and the way you respect HER, not even y’all, HER… thank you. You will shut it down for your wife and she doesnt always have to be Superwoman for y’all!!!! Whoo!!!!! Talkin about giving a woman hope!!! I’m good being patient with results like yours.

These conversations are soooooo gooooddddd!!! Hearing their experience during quarantine makes me think about how important your attitude towards situations affects not only you, but also those around you. Imagine if Tank found it hard to be around his family and voiced that..how would angel view being in quarantine with him. It could have led to a negative perception about being stuck in the house with him...just a thought.

Lessons: 1. Therapy can change the trajectory of your marriage to the better if you lean into it. There are also limits to therapy. 2. Quarantine did expose many fractures in relationships which had remained hidden due to busyness of life. Hence wise to go for therapy to resolve some of the uncovered fractures. 3. Marriage doesn’t have to be hard. One couple’s experience doesn’t have to be your experience. Marriages do come with challenges. It’s how you navigate through them that can shape your perception of your marriage. That doesn’t necessarily have to translate to all marriages. 4. Have fun, travel, explore the world as a couple. Once you have kids, the carefree, go anywhere, anything goes attitude about life changes. You can still travel with children but it’s not the same as just the two of you.

I have to be honest to say I was hesitant about watching this series. I'm not married but desire to be and I've been fortunate to have witnessed up close good and healthy marriages. Not perfect but good and healthy. I wasn't too keen on listening to how it's so hard, when it's actually good and beautiful. Meaning the good outweighs the bad. Of course that's not the case for everyone, but it's also not bad for every couple. Social media can be a front, but everybody's not frontin. Alot of people are naive, but many do understand the hardships of relationships and life in general. Also I don't think the idea of "relationship goals" is not entirely superficial. People know it's hard but can be good and worth it. And we all want to find the person to do the hard with. Having said all of this, I've binged the series and very glad that the narrative is balanced out. It has been been a blessing for me to watch.
@harmonious.balance2 жыл бұрын
@alana terrel I don't disagree. The angle that I'm adding to the conversation is that many people know that marriage, and relationships can be hard, but to see others still manage to work through the hard, the ups and downs, such that the good outweighs the bad...to say they want that too, is not naive. The other point to add is that for those that have followed these couples, this isn't the first time they've talked about challenges, so many have listened and heard their stories and still want what they have, because what they have is actually good.

Wow, I’m very surprised by Angel and Marcus. I have to admit, I certainly had a misconception about their marriage based off of their social media personalities. I actually thought their relationship would be a volatile one and when I saw they were going to be on this show, I immediately thought to myself “oh this will be some good tea, they’re about to tell us how to overcome infidelity and massive hardships in a marriage”. But after seeing this it was pleasantly surprising and I feel horrible for prejudging their Union like that.
