In later years, we bought a couch at a consignment store. We chose it because my husband could get up from it. I chose it because it went with the pattern on the chairs in the family room. We were both somewhat sensible. Be grateful you can argue with your spouse because mine has been gone for nearly 7 years.

That's an excellent observation; it appears the data collected terminated just outside the Gap. It is my belief that Don omitted data to fit his agenda. She likely did complete her main mission of getting the pair of pants as well as fulfilling the side quest of visiting every store, not to mention she did it more efficiently on a cost per unit time basis. I need Laura's untampered narrative to compare results lol.

As a fellow engineer, who has also been married for many years, you actually made EXACTLY the right call in those argument examples. You offered suggestions, and then ULTIMATELY respected her decision as final. Making a suggestion is actually GOOD, and HIGHLY PREFERRED, under the strong condition that you don't fight with her if she disagrees. One of the worst things you can do is fail to offer a suggestion and just say "whatever you want to do, honey". She wants to hear a suggestion from you, even if she immediately shoots it down. Making a suggestion shows that you are interested and paying attention. Respecting her decision as final shows that you respect her. As my grandpa (who was married for 62 years) used to say, "You can be RIGHT, or you can be HAPPY."

I have no idea how women are able to look at a freakin' pillow in a store for 25 minutes and end up not buying it because it's not matching the decore. Arent you able to tell right away???
@gardenjoy5223
@gardenjoy5223 7 ай бұрын
Wait a minute... Have you forgotten, that we've gone through all the options in our house and still in other stores to see if among the 12,331 options there's a winner? Considering the amount of options of combining it with what we already have, of what we could buy as well, and of what color we could paint the wall (and there the drapes come in...), I think 25 minutes is amazingly fast.
@wisteria3032
@wisteria3032 7 ай бұрын
it's not the only thing to consider. can we talk about the quality of the pillow? I mean, I will probably not be buying it because of the decor but maybe I could look for a pillow with similar characteristics. Now, let's analize all of them, decide for which ones I will refuse to compromise and which are good but if I find one that looks better in my home then I can compromise on them. Also let's think about the cost/time benefit of actually buying this particular pillow and have new fabric applied instead. Of course I need to think about the probability of finding an altogether better one instead but this probability depends on how many other pillows I have already seen and analysed

2:54 I actually agree with Laura’s way of doing it. Vacuuming is EXTREMELY tedious. The best way to do it, in terms of “keeping your sanity,” is to just zone out and go crazy with it. Paying methodical attention to the specific path of the vacuum like that, would drive me crazy. Also, there are sometimes things you need to vacuum twice.

The Dyson handheld vacuum has really changed the vacuuming scene. Now I don't mind vacuuming anymore because it's very fun - versatile, small, reach many more places, watch all the captured dust at the end, and no more pulling long hair from the machine. Worth every penny, but! DO NOT give in to spouse's demands for the latest version. V8 Absolute is more than enough IMO - should be around $300 if you look around
