This is by far the best and clearest tutorial I have seen for this amp. Thanks!! You are a very good teacher!

Awesome tutorial. Marshall really should write it somewhere in the manual that the cab sim should be switched off whilst playing through a speaker cabinet.

Seriously. Listen to how much better it sounds after he turns off cab and amp on the JTM45 setting. Something that simple will make you go from thinking its a crap sounding amp to thinking its a pretty good one if you just sat down to play one and didn't know that. Most of the presets are not good. Once you go in and shape your own sound and get it going thru a quality cab, its a steal for $349.

Step 1: Turn the cab sim off if playing through a speaker. Step 2: The presets are terrible: pick one and overwrite it. Choose a preamp, and a power amp. Add reverb. Congratulations - the Code now sounds awesome and you can add additional effects if desired.

Actually, leave the CAB simulator "On" if you are using the matching CODE 4 x 12 Cabinet. Its speakers are designed to compliment and bring out the nuances of the different simulated Cab models in the CODE amp head. If you are using a different brand cabinet, then yes, switching CAB to "Off" will probably better preserve the characteristics of that particular cabinet.

Marshall does not mention this in the literature, but if you use the headphone out or the USB connection, it's disables the effects loop. I thought there was something wrong with my amplifier, but it turns out that is the way this is designed.

Why did you not mention that by using the accompanying downloadable application Marshall Gateway, you can save you presets to your handheld device rather than over writing the settings on the actual amp?

I own both the Code 50 and also a new Code 100 212. Is there anyway to dial out the fizz at low volume for the low notes? I have had some luck by trying different settings and now my low volume sound is mostly fizz free, still if anyone else has a suggestion- I would try it. I'm also thinking since i only had the 212 for 2 day's that the speakers need to be broken. I remember 2 years back my Code 50 had a fizz but now that the speaker is worn in there is no fizz. I think the electronics are so sensitive that they pick up the fizz right from the strings. Of course at higher volumes the fizz is compactly drowned out, so it's only low level late night playing when not wanting to wake the wife. I am a fan of the Marshall guitar amps and like these digital amps a lot, even though I have more Marshall tube amps. I recommend the Code amps for Jazz and blues as well as Rock. They are so adjustable, more than any other amp I have ever owned. -Peter

At 3:30 I totally disagree ― if you have the CODE 4x12 connected to the CODE100H or are using the built-in speaker in the CODE 50 Combo ― otherwise, an excellent tutorial. Cheers!

I’m kinda new to learning about amps and stuff. I keep seeing people talking about cabinets. Do I need to buy one if I want to use this amp? I don’t see why it is needed (unless the amp doesn’t have a speaker)
@kickfighting10153 жыл бұрын
Amp its self is a "head" ,its an amp only. You would have to have a "cabinet" because thats were the speakers are. Marshall makes a "cabinet" for this head. Often sold as a set. Amps that come with speakers built in are called "combo" amps.

Do you recommend turning the cab and power amp buttons off If you have the Marshall code 50 which is a 1x12 amp?
@jimsimmons26747 жыл бұрын
I also have a code 50 and i never turn off the cab and power amp buttons,i tried it and my amp sounded low in volume and very thin sounding! These buttons are not only for listening through headphones there for you to use them and to tweak your code to sound good the way you like it! This is bad advice in my opinion to turn off the cab and power amp buttons,ok i could see maybe turning off the cab sim on the code 100 because a 4x12 will give you a bigger sound but why turn off the power amp models?
