I really can't believe it but the Origin sounds so much better. I would have never thought I would prefer it over the JCM800

The Origin wins, hands down. Only historic fidelity to the JCM 800 would say it sounds better. Much more headroom and clarity - including the P-90s. I did research and was disposed against the Origin at first. After almost a year of trying to talk myself into the SLP or JCM Studios I went for the Origin 50, and it is a fantastic Amp. The video didn't show the "boost" option on the gain. The Origin sounds like a classic SLP 100 "jumpered" when you pull the boost (and adjust the "Tilt". Its a Marshall! Okay? Forget it is assembled in Vietnam. Be thankful you can get a Marshall 50-watt for less than $1000!

Same here, dude. I had 2 amps stolen from my car after leaving a barbecue. I got insurance to cover it, but I was left with only my Marshall 50th anniversary JCM 1 watt mini stack. It's great for home use, but I wanted to get a SV20 head/cab to replace my gigging amps. I found a snakeskin version sv20 head+cab, for less than the cost of the regular black head alone. I was all set to buy it, then I tried the origin20 head and 2x12 cab and was blown away. Far better tones, and less than half the price. A year later and I couldnt be happier. I don't see myself needing anything else in the future unless I need to go bigger.

Wow, most of the time the SC sounded like it had a blanket over it compared to the Origin.

The origin has “the marshall sound” for folks who don’t quite know what that sound is, lol. Play these both in a store and see if you think they even sound similar.

5:26; The venerable JCM800 preamp has a resistor on the treble course, so the bass course is compressed 1st, giving you more BOOM than ear pickingish output.

Having gotten an Origin 20 and a DSL 15, the SC20 was underwhelming, it was alright, it just didn’t do anything my current amps can’t do already.

Yea I fell in love with the Origin 20, had the Origin 50 and it's better but way way too loud! Like the fact that the Origin 20 has the exact same tube compliment as the 50 but runs its tubes on much lower voltage and so tube life should be amazing on the 20 too! My hats off to the designer of the Origin 20!

Great stuff, I have to say, I wish you would use a lower output humbuckered guitar or one with more clarity like a Charvel. The tone your getting to me is very muddy. Rest of the tones are very good. Nice video!

great to see the comparison, but when testing the clean sound on the jcm you had the pre-amp volume turned up all the way..... no wonder the origin seems better clean, not a thourough comparison

You guys made a good amp sounds bad when playing humbuckers, you need to increase mid and lower the bass, they almost sounded like fuzz...

had the origin 20 head .was very bad very fizzy at full volume .jcm 800 is and still the king.with the right guitar and boss od1 or sd1 japanese .and you are in tone heaven .sorry guys of the origin 20 but cheaply made.
