Martin Dingman Tuscan Wingtip and Belt in Graphite: Unboxing and Review

Unboxing and review of the new Tuscan collection at Martin Dingman. Absolutely loving this smart casual wingtip. The hand dyed graphite patina looks fantastic. The thicker rubber sole and contrast stitching and sole edge give these a more casual vibe and all weather versatility but they can still be dressed up for work wear. Exceptionally comfortable padded insole and true to size fit. These are definitely my favorite model yet from Martin Dingman and I may have to try some more from this collection.

Yes I agree, it's a really great grey tone. Not too light or too dark. Well balanced and definitely not boring. 👌👍

@@mbshoedoc Agreed! Quick question - I’ve just removed the oxblood finish from a pair of Bostonians to reveal a dusty rose leather. Any tips on going grey with this?

@@douglascampbell6482 honestly that's going to be a tough one. It is near impossible to get all the red tone out. That is a patina that I personally wouldn't have tried. I tend to keep the red and work with it and add shading etc to make it more interesting. But since you're in it you could add very diluted green to the red which will cancel out and give a more brown tone and then strip again. Then you may be able to use a diluted blue/grey mix to get a better base tone to work with. From there using less diluted grey to add your accenting. For me I only do grey on unfinished white crust leather. Check out my Patina on Michael Darren Shoes to see a crust example. That's the best for grey. Hope that helps.

@@mbshoedoc Thanks for the feedback! Fortunately this is a pair of thrift store finds that I got to start trying to patina (yes, you inspired me!). So if they end up …uh, suboptimal - it’s not much of a loss as I’m having a blast. I like your thoughts on working with some crust shoes eventually. Where do you even get such things? For that matter, where do you get grey dye - dilute black? I’m sorry for all the questions but you really do have me juiced about this, and I’ll definitely check out your Michael Darren video! Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving
