Is it possible to look ahead without stumbling over what’s in front of you? All too often companies spend precious time laying out long term strategic plans, only to discover that their maps are out of date in a month. Business strategy expert Martin Reeves offers a solution. He advocates transitioning from relying on a single "classical" approach to strategy and moving towards a more tailored approach to strategy and execution, selecting from 5 distinct patterns of success.
Martin leads The Strategy Institute, BCG’s vehicle for exploring ideas from beyond the world of business, which have implications for business strategy. Current research themes include meta-strategy, evidence-based transformation, corporate longevity and strategies of sustainability. Martin joined BCG in London in 1989 and later moved to Tokyo, where he led the Japan health care practice for eight years and was responsible for BCG’s business with Western clients. He has led strategy assignments in healthcare, consumer goods, financial services, and industrial goods in Japan, the US, and Europe. He has authored numerous articles on strategy, a book on “Adaptive Advantage” and another - “Your Strategy Needs a Strategy” - will be published by Harvard Business Press in Spring 2015.
About the TED Institute: We know that innovative ideas and fresh approaches to challenging problems can be discovered inside visionary companies around the world. The TED Institute helps surface and share these insights. Every year, TED works with a group of select brands to identify internal ideators, inventors, connectors, and creators. Drawing on the same rigorous regimen that has prepared speakers for the TED main stage, TED Institute works closely with each partner, overseeing curation and providing intensive one-on-one talk development to sharpen and fine tune ideas.

The instruction for business is in accordance with the monitoring of several premises. And, if you are planning or want to reinvent the internal process, customer relationships have many interesting points to deepen strategies. And here's a proposal to formulate a competitive strategy.

If you think your strategy needs a strategy, then you're probably already 3 steps behind your competition. Sure, there's strategic moves that can be made throughout business, but that means nothing if you continuously fail to produce a superior product.

Martin Reeves talks about the issue of strategy and how he thinks that a strategy needs a strategy, but does that even make sense? Everyone has a strategy I'm sure, some people may have a more poor strategy than others, but does that mean we are lacking strategy at all? No. Martin Reeves made me think of an ethical component, known as nonmaleficence, which is don't inflict/prevent harm or evil, remove harm or evil, and promote good. If people don't have that well have a strategy that's not inflicting harm on anyone or anything. Just because people are poor at having a strategy doesn't mean they need a strategy needs a strategy. Everyone does things every differently, not all of us are the same person and we don't do things the same way. Having a strategy is promoting good, and even if it's a poor one, they are still promoting good and preventing harm. A strategy needing a strategy is way too confusing and too stressful, when people have a strategy it is good, even if it's not a good one.

This is quite outdated thinking and more or less a loser whinnying in a public platform because they need someone to TALK and keep the show going. Strategy will never be out of date, tech, IT, HR, marketing, production, innovation.. does not change my friends. His inability to adapt, grow and overcome is why he’s doing what he is doing today. Not creating, not visioning, not competing, not mentoring, not innovating. Young entrepreneurs, be cautious listening to this type of webinar. It will not give you an advantage besides a history lesson.
