Great video!! my 2011 has no cold air even though the compressor has freon and good pressure, i figured it was the blend door actuator since the issue was accompanied by a farting noise coming from the dash, i was gonna take it to a shop tomorrow and they quoted me way too much even after getting an approved quote for way less, but thanks to your video i can now do it myself!

GREAT VIDEO! It was a PITA to get it out (only because there’s not much space) but moving the two wire brackets was a great tip! I had to use a small box wrench and a drop of glue to hold the T15 to get the screws out/in. Whole job took about an hour...drinking a beer now! Thanks again!

Thanks for the video. I changed one on my 2010 Challenger this one was on the drivers side, one of two there. One closest to the firewall. Strictly a feel and work job, no way you can see what you are doing. Much harder than the one in this video to change. One stupid broken tooth on the cheap plastic cluster gear in that actuator is what causes the problem.
@LaswellB2 жыл бұрын
My late father's 2010 challenger is making this same noise on the drivers side when you open or close a door. I'll have to stick my head under there to check it out. Is it the same part number for the driver's side?

Thanks for this video! Which actuator is this in your car? Apparently there are multiple ones out there, and I'm guessing they all use the same part, yes? The recirculation door is messed up, and I can't find where that is online. Appears there is also a 'blend' door and a 'mode' door. Would appreciate your expertise :)

This particular actuator behind the glovebox only adjusts the damper door for cabin recirculated air versus outside air. If you have a temp problem you need to get under the dash on the driver side and find the same exact actuator to replace.

Best part of the video is the part number from the Autozone box is shown around a minute in to the video. @@willmac118 it's on the driver's side down to the right . The plastic panel on the driver's side can come off and that's how you get access to it.
@nickcastro99177 жыл бұрын
correct me if im wrong but is their also an air door actuator on the driver side in between the cluster gauge and the air vent? the only reason why i ask is because my 2013 challenger is doing the same thing but im not to sure if the sound is just being funneled through the dash to sound like if its the one next to the passenger side or if its the one next to the cluster gauge on the driver side.
@MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC7 жыл бұрын
I think there are 2 actuators underneath the passenger side and one near the radio (that one is the toughest to fix, you have to take the radio out and change it). On this Challenger it sounded like it was tapping between the cluster gauge and the air vent, however the actuator was connected in a way that it sounded like it was through the middle of the dash. You can test out which actuator is bad by either feeling the actuator while it's clicking (making that annoying sound), or by disconnecting the wire that it connects to. For mine I just felt it click and I knew that one was causing the tapping noise.
@nickcastro99177 жыл бұрын
Do you think you can possibly do a tutorial for that one lol

How exactly do you know which side actuator has failed? I adjusted the temperature to the highest heat setting in my vehicle. He was blowing out of the driver side, but cold air was blowing from the passenger side. So basically the wrong temperature was blowing out of the passenger side. Should I replace the passenger side actuator?
@robcharbs56054 жыл бұрын
Yea the side that doesn't adjust to the selected temp is the bad one. If there is no clicking then you might just need the little gear. In the mean time just manually move the door blend and tape it in place.
@caocao4806 жыл бұрын
In my 2014 challenger the drivers side vents give me nice cold air but the passenger side is warm. I dont have the thumping you describe do you think it's the same part causing the issue?
@MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC6 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, your freon level is probably low. The actuator would make a ticking noise. I would have your freon level checked and if it's low, have it refilled.
@JuanMorales-sn4tk5 жыл бұрын
In my 2013 charger when I turn on the heater only the passenger side is hot and the driver side is cold do you think it could be the actuator under the dash board

@MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC4 жыл бұрын
caocao480 - It is one of your actuators. It’s probably stuck in one position. Try setting the controls to defrost and then to vent to see if you can get it working.

I have a 2012 Dodge Challenger SXT that a slow knock sound comes from the dash (around the RPM & temp gauge) soon as I open the door before starting car. I watched your video & several others saying it's the Actuator from the AC. But the sound coming from my dash isn't a rapid clicking, just knocks wierd several times without the AC on. Today it knocked a few times while I was on a road trip with the AC on. When I turn engine off it knocks again but not a fast clicking. Could this still be the Actuator or something else you think? Thank you for all your advice I appreciate it!!

when I switch mine to ac its still blowing heat but there is no clicking I have changed 3 of these on our 09 impala
@c7bullet789 Жыл бұрын
It can be caused by low Freon levels, or a bad AC compressor. If the Freon level is to low that can cause the compressor not to turn on. Check the Freon levels first. You can hear the condenser click on with the hood open when you turn on the AC. Have someone turn on the AC while you listen for the Ac compressor under the hood to turn on. You’ll hear the compressor click once. If you fill the Freon and it’s working fine for a day or two then stops working you have a Freon leak. The main culprit for Freon leaks is the AC condenser Freon line rubber gaskets at the connection points to the condenser or the condenser itself. The condenser looks like a small radiator. If the Freon level is low they sell Freon with Uv die in it that glows green with a uv/black light so you can see where it’s leaking from. There’s vids on KZbin that will show you how to fill the Freon or replace any of the parts I mentioned. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Can this fix my ac problem it blows hot air insted of cold
@MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC2 жыл бұрын
No, the actuator controls where the air comes out of the vehicle (vents, defrost, floor). If your A/C is blowing hot, check the Freon level or the compressor.
