@Sandra Lee Weeks-Hubbard And most people didn't care about skin color. Now it's become a major issue, especially with liberals that push identity politics. I grew up on all these country singers and never cared what color they were. I just liked the music and the message in the lyrics of the songs. But since we're name dropping black country artists, look up Tony Jackson if you want to hear a man with a great voice.

I'll never forget how he came of the plane in Louisville Kentucky and pushing his wife in a wheelchair and he stopped and went back to the doorway and waited on my son to exit the plane. He welcomed him home, thanked him for his service and told him about his military background. Simply an amazing man with a big heart and he loved his country along with loving all whom serve! Rest easy MR PRIDE, you're legacy will live on! Military mom

Much beloved by my parents . This African grew up on Charley Pride , Jim Reeves and Skeeter Davies. We had an employee who didn’t speak any English but could sing “ I’ll fly away” perfectly. Lots of tears will be shed back home. RIP 🙏💔

I grew up listening to Charlie Pride on 8 tracks in my stepdad's Delta 88. Him and my mom would sing country and western driving down the highway. Sad to hear Mr. Pride has passed away.

I sure do miss the 70s and 80s. The music today is not even the same. Sometimes I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier and everyone enjoyed life! Is this your favorite song ?

Charley Pride was the singer that made me think of my Grandmother most. She loved Charley Pride & all of his music. Especially, this song. This is the 1 I remember her singing the most. I have always called it, Me & my Grandmothers song. She always sang this song whenever I would go & visit her. Thank You, Charley. :)

I'm not American. I'm son of Irish immigrants, born in London, UK, in the 1985. My mother was a fan of Country. This era (and before), not the later stuff. Many Irish people were. Songs of home, small towns, loves and losts. I remember pulling vinyls out and seeing Charlie's face. He stood out. Obviously. My mother loved his music. It's really, quite, I dunno... weird - this space America seems to be in. A 'black' person being a fan of Country, that's almost a unicorn. Probably gets some grief about it. I'm not unawares of American history, but, yeah, always seems a bit weird to me. Anyways, I liked your comment. That's all, really. Good luck. God bless.

R.I.P. to the Country Legend Charlie Pride. He was a role model to me growing up as a black male in a racist Miss. and an racist entity that didn't accept black people in white dominated Country Music. Love you forever Charlie, God Bless You brother.

Grew up listening to him, Conway Twitty, Ronnie Milsap, and other country greats! Im 55 now and all this music leaves me nostalgic and longing for a simpler time. The kids these days will never understand the world the way it was back then. I grew up poor and it was the simple things in life that mattered
