This is the quintessential Jim Lee Cyclops figure. The lack of an optic blast effect is the one thing keeping it from being a 10/10 for me. The cel shading isn’t great, but that’s nothing a little acetone can’t handle. It pairs nicely with the Mafex Jean Grey

@@GameTime-yj6qv you can’t, it’s only destroys paint not plastic (unless you use a shit ton) just dip a cotton swab in some acetone or nail polish remover then dab on the shading.

@@Hirabeatz can confirm. I used 100% acetone on all the yellow parts. Worked like a charm. Just had to wipe it away with water and dry before it sticks. It does make the torso part shiny so I didn’t use any on there.

Just got mine. He's perfect, cannot remember the last time I got a legends fig with no issues!! Lol that aside, he's a really good figure. Only gripe is he should've came with alternate head and some accessories.

Yeah, as far as articulation goes this is the best cyclops we've gotten. I love the keyed in straps. I think you're right about removing the shading. He looks similar to Morph who was also mostly molded plastic and I removed all my morphs shading. As you said visor may be tricky though

I Like the look. The body and newly sculpted harness and straps look great. I'll wait for a non cell shaded version. Hopefully that'll have optic blast effects and maybe an unmasked head.

I love this figure. However, my visor came REALLY bad... with one of the sides super swollen/like it has a lot of excess plastic. Gonna get a replacement for him which is a hassle but oh well

@@zacharyhering3224 QC seems shitty nowadays. Got my replacement from Pulse, visor is fine but the peg connecting to one of the foot is super soft, didn't go all the way in and it looks like if I move it much, it'll break. And can barely support the dudes weight for standing..

I got this guy in over the weekend and overall I am pleased with it. It's just hard to look past the penny-pinching Hasbro does which holds a figure like this back from being truly great. I love the colors they selected for the blue, there's just not enough shading. The mustard/gold for the yellow still sucks. The forearm slits are annoying and inexcusable, as far as I'm concerned. How could they not get more use out of retooling a forearm to just not have that cut? There's got to be plenty of figures that would benefit. The open hands are also obviously meant to be bare hands that they just cast in yellow, I think they're the same ones Morph came with, which also looks stupid up close, but less so from a shelf. And the kicker is the no second head with a more aggressive disposition (like the box art) and a blast effect. How can you do a Cyclops without a blast effect in this day and age? I sure am glad we're paying a premium for these things! It's just hard not to feel salty when on the same weekend I purchased NECA's Hudson action figure which features a bunch of new tooling, tons of paint, and has a tremendous sculpt and it only cost 7 bucks more. And I didn't have to ship it like I did with Pulse so it's basically a wash in the end. This line was something I was really excited for, but only maybe half of the figures turned out acceptable which is a real bummer.

Yes, every painted "cellshade" bit on this figure and most figures in this line has the shading on bare plastic with no paint, and also the plastic is all molded in the right color once the shading is removed. So just be careful with certain places and removal should be straight forward.

This is the only VHS fig I have now, and because I love Cyc so much I needed the fig for sure. And I do like him. But 80's is my preferred look so I am looking forward to that.

Hasbro would dominate if they just pulled their heads out of their butts and included a swath of accessories. Tired of seeing one set of alternate hands and no additional head. As much as i hate the cell shading thing...i do like the figure. Im sure they are going to release it again without the shading....im hoping they add a yelling face with optic blast attachment. Scott is my favorite in the Xmen and the Jim Lee design is my favorite of his looks.

Once you remove the terrible brown "cell shading" this figure is excellent. Even the darker blue paint really adds some character as well. Use a fine point q tip and paper towel for the larger areas with clear nail polish and some patience.

Hey Ant I love your reviews and I have a request/recommendation. I know u put the ruler to these figures in the beginning of the reviews but I am a guy who really likes to see size conparisons because they give me a much better feel of the size of a figure. If you could select a few figures (like a standard marvel legends maybe captain america, maybe a mafex, mezco, some figuarts) to implement into a size comparison routine at the start of the reviews similar to a How DareDevil19, 5POA, Animated Heroes etc do their size comparisons, I feel like your reviews would be perfect. Don’t know if I’m asking too much

I missed out on the Mafex Jim Lee style Cyclops and the new Marvel Legends one fits perfectly in my Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter display. I only wish this ML release came with optic blast effects.

@@SymbiSpidey Doesn't matter to me. Hasbro can charge what they want and it can be their new normal price, It doesn't mean I will buy it blindly. There are several lines that are either cheaper or their prices justify what they are bringing to the table. Just because Hasbro makes Marvel figures, doesn't mean I will accept any price they demand. I will either get their figures on sale or get something else. The toy market has several lines, Hasbro won't be getting my money all the time. The bottom line it's a piece of plastic, I can live without it.

Seems like getting one of these with a half decent visor is a 50/50 shot. And even when you get one that’s near good it’s still swollen on his left side. But it is overall a really good figure aside from the bad “cel shading”

The only gripe I have is that the visor looks like he's squinting. With that being said, I'm going to try and swap the head from my love triangle cyke and this one because in my opinion, the warlock wave cyke and 3pack headsculpt are far more superior than the VHS.

It seems like theyre scared to do ACTUAL Cell-Shading, so they just do this semi Cell-Shading and its kinda weak. I actually enjoy Cell-Shaded figures and I wish they went all out with it. They halfway do it and end up pissing off everyone lol Also he's plastic underneath people have been removing it fine.

Optic blast effects should be a standard for cyclops like the way it should be for spidey, you should be able to showcase the powers of the characters in each figure properly, I think we should stop doing wired webbing and hot glue blast effects at this point... I hope they release this figure in retro package with optic blasts, and without cel shading...

Zup Anthony, Jim Lee fan here, As much as I try to ignore all the positive things about this figure, you kept pulling me into liking it. I hate the AoA version released and this one looks pretty good, but I’m gonna give it a pass and wait for a re- release without this dumb paint job…a 5/10 on accessories!!? Hasbro Pulse did me dirty. Sent me this figure and he came with TWO right handed fists that were on the figure. So how does QC not notice that? He has deep cuts in both his forearms. Like someone took a knife to it. And the worst thing was he looked like Sloth from Goonies. His visor was warped and not even completely opened all the way across. Absolute garbage figure they must have found in the trash and decided to send me. Waiting for customer service to respond to my email. You have those lines on the forearm too. What are those even for? Mine still look worse and they look deeper and plastic frayed around it.
