Anyone remember that Lego Avengers game that came out around 2013? That despite being a Lego game, had an interesting and original storyline, an interesting variety of playable characters and boss fights, had no insipid loot elements, and a Tony Stark that didn't make you want to fill in your ears with a glue gun? Plus, all the DLC for that game not only introduced even more characters in bulk, but also entire new chapters for the story mode. @chukyuniqul4 жыл бұрын
@@Ace-il8sf okay real talk-I hate destiny. Mostly because of what it created. And calling it a damn good game is, in my opinion, a stretch. I gave it a go as a F2P and it was little more than a sci-fi coating over a spunkgargleweewee. But it's free, it bored me but didn't annoy me even when losing and it's sci-fi (not to mentionnan original, if bland one). So that with some solid level up mechanics makes it a game. But it had a fucking loooong way to comr to get where it's now. It's still a waste of time, don't get me wrong (i mean more than video games usually are) but for what it's worth it wouldn't be the last game I think of playing to listen to a podcast.

@AlreadyWon That's because the majority of the characters weren't given much screen time in IW or Endgame. The movies were already ridiculously long, if they were to expand on the "side characters" more (major characters that AREN'T Thor/Tony/Cap) then we'd have a 7 DVD set for each movie. Guardians of the Galaxy, however, was fantastic and Quill was given some great character development in those movies. He just wasn't a focus of the two "climax" movies that you wished he was. Which is understandable because the vast majority of people wanted to see Thor/Tony/Cap the most, those are the three most major characters that even the people who aren't really fans of the MCU absolutely love. And those movies were made to sell to as many people as humanly possible, Disney wanted to shit on Avatar's long held record.

From what I understand, they bought Bethesda by buying its parent company, Zenimax. And since Zenimax has been the source of a lot of problems with Bethesda, and Microsoft's willingness to allow their newly bought IP to be on other systems. Then this means that this could very well be a good thing. We probably won't need to bother with Bethesda net anymore, and the studios might get a bit more leeway with creating the games. But it could also mean that Microsoft might leave them to die or straight up cancel games like they've been doing all this gen. So who knows, but I'm optimistic (though Doom is like the only series of theirs that I care about).

This is easily the most "AAA" video game I've seen in a while. Until Jim Sterling tweeted about it earlier I genuinely forgot about it and it's only been out 19 days. Despite being modelled after the most popular movie series of all time it's even more forgettable than fucking ANTHEM. Good God I have no idea why so many people still gloat about how good AAA games are, corporate puppets. Literally the only good ones these days are story focused ones like God of War but even then most of them still take so many elements from other games. Like how Horizon: Zero Dawn is a mishmash of a ton of games. Still great don't get me wrong but AAA games on the whole rarely feel all that original. What's even worse is when people bash indie games for being indie, sure many of them aren't all that but some of them are incredible, made with both vision and passion, I'll take that over soulless corporate trash any day. I've only had Risk of Rain 2 a couple of weeks and I've probably already put like 200 hours in to it because indie games can't be fun right.
@Athados14 жыл бұрын

I knew this would be terrible from the reveal trailer, but honestly I don't even know what the appeal of a online looter shooter is so I'm not sure why this is worse than say Warframe. So this may have looked terrible to me even if it was "good". Personal preference, but where's the appeal in an endless grind with no story or definitive cap? I get competitive multi-player even if it isn't for me but I can have some fun with it, it's like a sport, but PVE online endless loop doesn't even interest me in the slightest

Sad thing is that warframe actually has a really entertaining story when you actually find it. It just takes either 100 or 1000 hours to reach that point. Besides warframe has fun gameplay and traversal while this is bugged to fuck and back
@SatsumaDev4 жыл бұрын
Warframe has a story. In fact, it has a very engaging story. I'd say that the main story quests in Warframe are the personal highlights of the game for me. Beyond that though, it's the idea of unique and meaningful progression. In something like the Avengers, the Iron Man you start with is the Iron Man you finish with, and is the exact same as everyone else's Iron Man that they both started and finished with. Maybe it'll have slightly better X or Y stat, but there is nothing meaningful or unique that differentiates them. In Warframe, the customization possibilities are so in depth and extreme that it is honestly overwhelming. EVERYTHING can be customized. You can build entirely unique weapons with entirely unique stats and entirely unique looks. Your Warframe's colours, animations, Appearance, Abilities, Ability Appearances, Strengths, Weaknesses, Pets, Ship, etc can all be extensively tweaked to your liking. You can customize almost every aspect of everything to such a degree that by the time you get towards the end of the game, no two players look or even really play alike (at least in theory, in practice a lot of people just look up the most mathematically sound builds, load-outs and play styles from well known community members and copy them). It's hardly a perfect game, with severe balancing issues, and a huge bloat of mid-game content that doesn't go anywhere, with a very distinct lack of interesting late game content. Which is why I've barely played it the past two years, but when it sinks it's hooks into you, it is very compelling to try and build your own personal space ninja to be as stylish, deadly, and fun as possible entirely to your own tastes. There is a very good reason there are multiple sub-communities within the overall Warframe community solely dedicated to the Fashion of the game and making their Warframes as visually appealing as possible.

They're power fantasies, albeit fairly directionless ones. I've played Warframe on and off over the years. It used to be fairly straightforward with none of the usual loot BS you get in MMOs and a vague enough story to maintain an air of mystery. Now there's numerous currencies and factions to grind affinity with, abandoned game mechanics and dead end modes that don't synergise with the core game, piles of dull & fairly useless weapons that exist almost soley as fodder for experience, and this increasingly disjointed nonsense animé-inspired story. It's succumbed to the perils of live service games, although a point in its favour is that it isn't as predatory as most of the others.

I mean as much as a die-hard Marvel fan I am! I looked at this game with Extreme Caution and there's a reason I own Marvel Spider-Man for the PS4 but this game I stop paying attention to when I started to see the writing on the wall during its development! To be fair when they reveal my most hated diversity character well second most hated as the be fair Riri is far far more heated then Kamala will ever be! The very moment they revealed her in the game My boner for it being good went soft for real fast because I knew she was going to be something probably similar to Ava from Borderlands 3! And the best thing I can say about that game's DLC is the writers were smart enough not to have her involved in any of their DLC stories which is why those are far superior than the f****** main game! And then I saw all the promises and start the wonder if they were going to break them! So I gave nothing to this game and I said that and I watched and I saw that yes everything I suspected what's going to happen and some of the s*** I did not expect them to f****** new the microtransactions I will very much admit I didn't expect them to be that f****** filthy about adding in, but those Maniacs f****** did it they blew it up damn you damn you to hell! I tend to second-guess AAA games the most before purchasing especially when they do their best to try to insist that no no no they're not going to do that very unpopular thing... Because they're going to do that very unpopular thing because money b**** that will always be the major priority even if it's going to end up being on popular gamers are freaking idiots as far as the greedy higher-ups in the AAA Market are concerned! And they're not completely wrong the only thing that wrong is the number of them isn't the adequate amount for them to sustain this poor Behavior towards them! They should be more concerned about repeat customers coming back for future content rather than trying to trick and milk as much as they can in a one-time thing and then during the be surprised no one came back after the poor treatment the first time! Amazing really that people would not like being visibly look add as walking ATM machines to be exploited! This is why you keep that s*** in your head when looking at people to exploit instead of projecting that s*** and being give me your money b****! One thing I wish they did with Spider-Man was make the side-missions more interesting rather than "do a small objective x number of times" I want like, actual content in the side-missions. Something that I would have missed if I didn't do them. That's one thing I hate about sidequests in general these days. I think the reason why Skyrim is so well received, aside form the mods, is that it has interesting side stories. Almost every single sidequest is an adventure where you encounter new things and find out more about the world. The only thing it has that's mildly annoying is the "find x ingredients" and "get to the end of this dungeon" missions (which i feel have more to do with helping players discover words of power more than maliciously lazy), and those are just a fraction of the content. Same with all the elder scrolls, really. Like, im all for obstacle course missions, that shit was my jam in Ultimate Spider-Man, but the fly through brown clouds or find all the backpacks was just dumb and lazy. Rest of the game was gorgeous tho.

Another thing with the digital age is that they can give reviewers a less grindy and more rewarding version of the same game. Its similar to how Activision on release will withhold a lot of the most shitty MTs and other monetary tactics only to slide them in after all the review scores are already out. This is the danger of this age of gaming, companies are free to alter their games to weedle money out of them after the customer is already sold on it, even if they've already bought it.

Speaking as someone who played the game with varying degrees of frequency after receiving it in late 2020, I can safely confirm that multiple updates were made since then. Yes, more missions, mission locations, and characters to play the missions as were added. But that wasn't the end of it. The user interface experienced a change designed to make it more accessible. Some of the multiple currencies in the game at the start were removed and replaced with increased output of the currencies they did leave in the game. The first few characters added to the game brought with them additional story stages. One even added an extra hub area for in-between missions.

I'd argue that every Star Wars trilogy has its good points and its bad points. The Prequels have bad acting, but the story is still interesting, the lore it created led to one of the most amazing animated series to ever exist, and the characters are some of the best in the series. The Originals are the starting point for everything, so its obvious that most of their problems would be glossed over, but Luke and Leia kissing, and the choice to have the Empire bested by ewoks shows that sometimes the best decisions weren't being made in regards to how the story played out. And as for the Sequels, they have the best acting, the best effects and cinematography, and easily the best ending out of the three trilogies, but the story feels all over the place and its clear both studio interference and fan backlash played a huge part in this.
