Wow you really had me pause the video where you discussed the decluttering of objects that carry guilt or shame. So powerful! Thank you for sharing. 🙏🏼🧿🙏🏼

I'm also choosing slower living this year because my husband reduced his work hours to half of what he previously had and I am very excited to live more mindfully and have space for the things that really matter to me. Before that, I was finding myself saying 'yes' to trips with friends I wasn't super excited about, or buying unnecessary clothing items just to 'level-up' which seems to me so stupid now. I'm returning to my teenage years' mindset when I lived on an extremely low budget and sometimes had to sacrifice getting food in order to buy a book 2-3 times a year. Strange how having less money can make you feel more free and joyful.

Thank you Mary-Grace for your videos! They always offer me some much needed inspiration and a "back to basics / down-to-earth" mentality regarding tarot. From time to time I do read the past from the cards. Because I'm not a morning person, and I already have to get up at 6 am to go to work, the daily-draw practice before starting my day, didn't really work for me. So, instead I draw a card in the morning, don't really look at it, and then in the evening reflect on how the card played out during my day. I've been reading tarot for myself for almost a decade now. I use tarot a lot in my ancestor practice, as a way of communication and I've found that (for me at least) the traditional meanings often don't apply in this work. It's more about the image on the card, sometimes very literally, sometimes more intuitively. I seldom work with a spread, it's more like a conversation and I have a special deck dedicated to ancestor communication, at least that one seems to work like a charm! I would love to hear how you work with tarot in ancestor/spirit communication, since I don't often hear people talking about this way of using the cards.

Hi Grace. I've experienced your channel as the antidote to the poison of TarotTube. Thank you. Also, using the tarot to read the past in a more fortune telling style is such a good exercise. I hadn't ever thought to do that. Psychological journaling with tarot is fine but I don't find it that helpful. Your exercise is practical and useful.

Just new to tarot and your work. I love the idea of reading the past and any more talks on this idea would be of interest. Looking forward to listening to more of your talks. You have a very calming demeanour. 🙏

On the topic of essential living... it's amazing what a needle and some thread can do. I haven't bought any new clothes in years... I just patch it up if it needs it! And if the patchwork looks ugly, well I don't care what a stranger at the grocery store thinks of me. The IDGAF mentality is quite liberating! Thanks for the word of the day too 😊 love learning new words, especially when it's from other cultures!

Totally agree with what you say about poisoning. I went through the same cycle and now rarely watch tarot videos. I do think the same cycle applies to lots of subjects though, not just tarot. I'll be interested to know how 'essential spend only' goes. It's a promise I make to myself every year and never manage to stick to!

Che bella che sei Mary-Grace! È sempre un piacere ascoltarti. ❤ I totally agree with what you said in the video, I made a no buy list too, I am constantly mind-decluttering and I am directioning my energies wisely. Thank you. 🥰

Commenting as I watch - Firstly, "what am I going to be when I grow up?" ME TOO. HAAALLLP 😂 Secondly, the word "investment" implies appreciation of value... which would suggest that the decks being termed 'investments' should see a LOT of dedicated, consistent, and progressively layered or experiential significance in someone's practice. However, this can be done with ANY deck (except possibly some of the recent cash grab ones that recycle their own imagery across cards). So, what I hear when people say "yea it's expensive but it's an investment" is: "yea its expensive but purchase it anyway". You know what that's called? A **BAD** investment. 😵

I will try tarot as a means to understand the past. I do something similar with my dreams. I have a conversation with my tarot about my dreams most especially my nightmares.

Yes, I have read about a past event, which was my brothers suicide in 2018. It told me the story of what led up to the event the final straw, and it also showed me where he is now in his journey after death. I obviously was unable to get these questions answered from him, but from finding out things after his death, trust me, it confirmed his heartbreak and burden. He is in a good place now and is with the person he wanted to be with. He shows up in the cards as the King of Pentacles in the RWS, and I love to visit him through the cards 🪽 Always a pleasure spending time with you Grace thank you for your time and amazing and thoughtful content. Much love from Down Under ❤ p.s his death day was yesterday, the 17th of Feb and he was 52.

ha! growing up on "long land" i thought *everyone* knew the word "skeeve". everyone used it. i also had no idea it's from an italian word though that makes perfect sense since where i grew up people were either italian catholic or ashkenazi jewish.

You gave me lots of things to think about, and I will try ‘reading the past’. I am still a maximalist and decluttering goes slowly here, baby steps.
@MaryGraceFahrun11 ай бұрын
Oh, I am by no means a minimalist and have no interest in becoming one. I am just decluttering what I don't need or care about so I can actually see and enjoy what I do need and care about. Please share your thoughts on reading the past when you try it out. 🤗❤

Lunar New Year, Baby! I am not of Asian descent, but I have always loved the Lunar New Year. I have decided to do my new rituals this year during the Lunar New Year this time. It's like by the time Jan. 1 shows up...I'm too frazzled from the fall and winter holidays to get myself together enough to do what I want to do for the new year (except for buying calendars, which I have no issues🤣)

Good to catch up 🥰 I can relate to this sense of slowness. It's something I keep meaning to discuss on my KZbin re slow tarot, but I'm slow getting to it haha. Sounds like you've found your decluttering vibe, which is such a good feeling. Figuring out these things feels similar to me as finding out the ways we learn best or study. That exploration of seeking what the method fit is to find that sweet spot. The John Travolta moment was a classic. 😂 For sure, tarot and the past is a great way to learn/explore. I wonder if that might be less stressful for newbies too. Especially while they're working out their tarot reading style for present to future approaches. Also, I'm always here for exercises in finding peace. I often call it storytelling, but I think my approach is a little here and there lol. I have explored my past with the cards. I find it cathartic because it's a quiet space to do so, without the noise of others who may have been a part of the story, so to speak. Kinda similar, but not the same, as how I might explore therapeutically with a client. Although, I am sitting with my bias alone obviously lol. But because it's something I'm ok to explore alone, that's cool. How you've described it, though, feels so clear and something that gets to the point. I can see even more versatility in the approach after listening to your framing here. Thanks for sharing.

I'm really intrigued by using Tarot as a means to understand the past. So interesting! This is new to me - I'm definitely going to try it. What a cool way to explore experiential meanings and deepen my connection with my decks. Thank you for sharing! I'm wondering if you would share a little bit more about your crafting projects, crocheting, etc? I think it would be good for me to take up a creative, relaxing hobby. :)

I'll definitely try that. Didn't sleep at all. It was a very interesting video all way through! I'll definitely try to read my past. Never done that... I usually read for my present. Sometimes that involves the present that just has been, or something in the past that is still meddling with the present. But my reading topic itself never has been the past as such. I'm curious!

-John Travolta is upside down. Once you see it you can't un-see it" 🤣 I love your videos! I'm still in hibernation mode here, to me my year kinda starts at spring equinox. It's coming soon and is a good reminder I should start preparing. I do read past, I find it helpful as it often reveals things unseen or giving me a different understanding-perspective of what happened. Also helpful to learn the cards, I prefer daily reading in evenings showing what's has happened vs doing them in the morning for the day. Thank you for this, I appreciate everything you shared!🙏

I think youtubers are specially vulnerable to the centrifugate forces of popular culture. I re-discovered Tarot in 2020 + pandemic and also throw me into a vortex, not as heavy as many youtubers. I can understand the peer pressure that viewers can bring to a creator content. Therefore, you are also influenced by us; if there are more views in deck videos than other type of video; this creates pressure to the youtube to produce more of those videos. So the influence is bidirectional

Hey Mary- Grace, yes, that’s what I did to see / check how I’m tuned to read my tarot cards. I noticed my tarot deck( s) beside standard meaning communicate with me via images on the card. One day my daughter was on hoverboard- she feel down and she hit her head ( don’t ask me what I felt in that moment ) - next day I asked cards ( it was Light Seer’s Tarot ) what has happened yesterday ? And I got 3 of swords and 5 of swords. If you look at the 5 of swords there is someone holding the side of their head - it was a spot where my daughter held her head when she got up of the floor and 3 of swords - was me - it was my pain I felt when I have seen it. It’s slightly harder way to read because it depends what deck I use now for a reading although I try to trust the Spirit the deck I choose for a reading will be sufficient.

Truth is we all need some guidance ,and the guidance may come from a tarot reader and may come from a tarot deck. Finding the perfect deck or the perfect reader may be a vain project since seeking perfection is vanity, in a way. I do a lot of gardening, and I have a lot of old school tools from my late dad, and I often wonder : "what is this special tool for?" and often enough, a special tool is for some special gardening work that can't be done in no other way. Sharpen it, lubricate it, envision the growth in the garden and shape it accordingly. Let's use the past tools to shape the future , according to a vision. And the vision of the future is always changing. For this coming summer, let's suppose we need some trees to make a shade , so that the flowers don't need a lot of water.
@sanguinetitarot778011 ай бұрын
Of course I read the past lol : some tree root is pushing the front wall down. And I say to my mom : it's that tree root that will bring the front wall down, let's cut the tree. And she says: no, let's cut the root and gain some time. Her plan is impossible, but she has a ten twenty years horizon, so I cut the root. and a new root will develop. Everybody love trees, but you don't understand the problems they create.
