i choose Maschin mk3, a lot of people say maschine is not a daw, maybe not for begginers, maybe not totaly for currently daw users, but you can make a professional song with maschin 2 and mk3, also maschine audio interface is a grate tool inorporated , basicly, maschin mk3 with the softwere , can be the center of your home studio. much better if you have anohter daw and mix your wrokflow, wait for the new arrangement and maschin will be a bomb.
@BlezzBeats4 жыл бұрын
Oh hell yeah you can (make phette and full music), and you make some good points. Seems overall like it's discouraging to a lot of beginners. If I had to pick one I'd pick the MK3 myself, but it depends a lot on what the attraction in it is to you. I feel a bit restrained on the One sometimes, partly because I'm not muscle memoried up in the same way and partly because some of my typical tasks are just faster on the Maschine but I love throwing stuff together on the MP still.

I have both I have to say machine is great but the mpc allows you to do more
@jsutton2414 жыл бұрын
I got both. Maschine has great work flow except with audio tracks. Once you learn the mpc software the work flow is great. Mpc being able to control hardware thru midi is boss. When it comes to choppin, when chopping on mpc manually you can edit on the fly were you can't on maschine. And time warping on on maschine is pretty bad. Maschine browser is way better and sound packs by maschine are better. But you can get the same sounds from anywhere. There both are great
@BlezzBeats4 жыл бұрын
Yeah man I love em both too. I think the timewarping sounds near unusable on the mpc tho, but easier to use. And you can actually edit your chops on the fly on Maschine too! Just skip one menu to the right in manual slice mode.
@jsutton2414 жыл бұрын
@@BlezzBeats yes I know about manual chop inside of maschine, when I say editing chop on the fly I mean once I make the chop manually I can then move the start and end point before going on the next chop. You can t do that in maschine. And with time warping with my work flow I only need to warp a couple of bpm up or down. That doesn't degrade the audio at all. And I call also do that with each individual pad in MPC
@BlezzBeats4 жыл бұрын
You can, you just gotta skip one menu to the right is what im sayin. Yeah thats definitely fine, like a 5% range tops. W the Maschine even if you go 50% it doesnt sound natural at all but it sounds cool, something closer to what the 950 did. I really hope they get that sorted cause right now it just turns into 56 kbps mp3 lol

I have no skin in this game and don't really care either way. Tbh I have neither. Just currently researching heavily which one to get to start out making beats for fun. From what I've seen from watching hours on YT and reading hundreds of comments tho, over the past 18 months or so AKAI has brought game-changing big updates to their devices that users are raving about, while NI is really slow with it and still not bringing features that Maschine users have been clamoring for for years. No?
@BlezzBeats2 жыл бұрын
Akai has a long bandwagon of support built on rep from their legacy machines which most people incl myself came from, a lot of that hype which you can see being rode right now on KZbin. They have more resources and slightly more frequent updates - a lot more noise. Workflow builds on the same idea as 30 years ago which some love, Maschine is a different more modular idea of building patterns. If you listen to what people say you'll generally hear more about what gear doesn't do and not what it does. Don't believe the hype.

@@BlezzBeats appreciate you sharing a wider perspective on this w/ some background for a noob like me. actually I'm tempted to pull the trigger on Maschine hardware rn, because it's much easier to find good deals on them VS the current MPCs. Still somewhat hesitant as my understanding is that I definitely need a full-fledged DAW to go along with that due to limitations of Maschine software. That makes it feel much more intimidating due to the learning curve of two products. Whereas MPC it's all one package (where of course many will still finish their stuff in Ableton or w/e). I've had the LIVE since it came out. I've never been much for making beats with a mouse or querty keyboard...but if it works for u...so be it. I like hands on realtime touch and tap... a nostalgia that's the roots of hip hop...which creates inspiration for me...the maschine just seems like an empty plastic box...that in my eyes is a total imitation of Mpcs. The 16 pad roger Linn mpc 60 is what almost all music production gear emulates today. I'd rather go with the company that kinda originated beat making👍

Yeah sounds like the comparison you're stacking up for is more like FL Studio or another DAW, you'd be surprised how hands on it is. Thats the reason I slightly prefer it over the MPC line. Using Maschine with the mouse and keyboard alone actually sucks lol, but it gives a nice complementary overview. My impression is there's a cult status to the Akai Pro brand alone thats hard to compete with, but alot's happened in 30 years. But the 8 audio tracks on the Mv 8000 was very Good .. Because you could punch in / out . And you had Comp Tracks .. To cut and paste the perfect verse.. The MPC 2 8 tracks are good for Remixes .. They Made The DSP 16 , back in the day .. they should make a virtual of this for the MPC 2 software. 17 tracks .. Track 1 .. let’s you bring your final sequence over you constructed from Song Mode.. Track 1-16 .. Vocals a Mini Daw.. Last but least if you own a MPC live , one , x . Upon you purchasing a MPC Key 61 .. connecting the 2 Via USB . The 2 sequencer screen should merge .. Now I can place my MPC drum Machine on my turntable stand .. in the other Room .. And have my Keys at my desk.. full integration! Both unit are Nice .. Sample edit / Program Edit . Pages is not What’s up! In the Preference Tab on the MPC you be able to set this up . Etc .. For the 1 sample I chop up on the MPC .. Time wise , you can chop up 5 on NI Maschine Facts!

Really? I sent my Maschine + back after one week of testing. Compared to the MPC One it's just ridiculous what NI calls "Standalone". It's always on the Top with its CPU Usage, even when you just have 3 Groups, and maybe one Instance of Massive active. Audio Glitches and Stuttering while running and loading at the same time. Even a Toy like the Novation Circuit Rhythm can handle more Samples and Effects together. Even the NI Support told me to not use much effects and to not use more than one Synth at one Time. But Wtf, this is like you buy a very expensive Car and the Builder tells you that it's highly recommended to not drive faster than 50mph and better to drive alone without any passengers, because otherwise there will be very big Problems. Don't get me wrong, i love the machine mk3 but the + is just a overhyped, ridiculously expensive piece of Aluminum that should be taken back and overhauled by NI. Im so happy, that in the week when i tested the + nobody bought my MPC one from Ebay, so i still have a device that's worth calling "Standalone".

@BlezzBeats3 жыл бұрын
I haven't, used the MPC One a lot for a period of time and I think it's a great device for some purposes but I still came back to the Maschine after the honeymoon and novelty. Even with the updates the structure of the interface and the workflow in its entirety is the same, on both of them. And thats what really does it for me, idea to reality is so much faster and hands on, the layout is more inspiring to me. Thats partly because I know it like the back of my hand too, so you really need to make the call with your own purposes in mind. The only thing thats changed since standalone is that I tend to do everything in the box with whats available and when I do more advanced chord progressions and weird genres and shit where cpu intensive plugins make life easier I just turn to Ableton Live, while on Maschine I do more groove oriented, sample and synth based stuff that I'm already drilled to do. More consistent 4 bar section looped stuff if that makes sense.
@BlezzBeats3 жыл бұрын
Also I gotta say the Maschines (any except the mikros 🤮) are a bit more thought through ergonomically for the hands. Mpc One is still a great fuckin machine though and if you're on a budget and making certain types of music theres no need to shell out the extra money, it might just be more luxury. Its probably not gonna change how your music sounds at the end of the day.

Yo Blezz, what's your workflow for using Maschine with a DAW? Do you do all the pattern building in Maschine standalone and export the audio or MIDI to a DAW, for sequencing (and adding more linear audio etc), or do you use Maschine as a plugin or some other fancy schmancy methodomology?
@BlezzBeats4 жыл бұрын
I've always built the whole shebang in Maschine but recently started exporting it to Logic or Ableton Live when it's almost done. It really depends on what's on it. If theres a ton of automation sweeps and fx i wanna do I prefer Live, if I'm recording an instrument or vocals over a longer stretch I prefer Logic.

Hi there, thanks for tis video! I've got a question. Is it possible to record several audio tracks and then multitrack export them to ableton with one of the machines? and which of them would be better for arranging mixing audio tracks?

hey is it possible to use groups on the mk3 like mpc sequences, stay in one group un/muting different patterns (samples, instruments and midi) on the 16 pads? i'm a bit onfused cos i've read you can only have i pattern in a group playing at any given time.
@BlezzBeats4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a different structure and I think you got the idea of what a pattern is a bit wrong but let's try to clear it up. In one group you can load up 16 sounds and all of these sounds (samples, instruments, midi) can indeed have their own "patterns" all running at the same time, and all those "patterns" running is what the Maschine refers to as one pattern. Every group can have several different patterns, and one layer above that there are scenes which are combinations of patterns, closest thing on a mpc to compare to would be a sequence. When you arrange a full beat you typically mix and match these different scenes you've put together. So unlike the mpc, there are no programs which you need to assign sounds to, and no tracks which you record midi onto, but the sounds rather double as tracks, allowing you to mix and match patterns as you wish. The snare cant be recorded on track 2 and track 4 for example, the snare will always exist on the pad/sound/"track" you've assigned it to. Check out my full workflow video from last week and you might grasp it knowing this.

@@BlezzBeats thanks for the in depth reply. Yeah, that clears somethings up, for sure. I think boxes like mpc, octatrack, maschine are the most complex devices. I need to get yr mitts on them for awhile to see what's what. I like the mpc live tho, but I'm more into synthesis than sampling. I'll check out your other vid too. Cheers ✌️

I feel like Akai has been just throwin new products into the market like CRAZY. I just can't wrap my head around how they (recently) came out with the Force, Live, Live 2, Mpc One, and now Akai is having their little competition with their MPC Studio against the Machine Mikro. One thing to think about is Akai hasn't changed their MPC X since 2017...and Native Instruments hasn't touched their MK3 since 2017. I Strongly assume it's because the Machine+ was a failure and almost seemed like a rushed quick fix for demand for a new Machine. And really since then, Native Instruments has taken a step back...watchin every move Akai makes as Akai aggressively tries to release all these MPCs and equipment. This is just my best guess, Native Instruments is going to come out with something mind-blowing soon; whether its a Studio 2, a Machine mk4, or possibly something entirely new to go up against the next big Akai release (the equivalent to the next MPC X). Any thoughts???
@offTheMedsYe2 жыл бұрын
Neither of us know for sure, but my guess would be: nope, just due to the economics of it all. NI is a pretty small shop compared to the behemoth of a company that's behind the AKAI/MPC brand, owning a bunch of different assets and synergies that come with that. IIRC it was brought up every now and then by NI employees on their own forums how the company is basically strapped for cash....

I bought the Maschine mk3 when it first came out. I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but NI seems to be focused on rules and regulations way more than the customer. During the setup process, I felt like they wanted me to jump through a bunch of hoops in order to have the privilege of using the product I just bought. I asked about returning it and found out I couldn't because NI is very difficult with all the strict licensing requirements. At that point I decided to cut my losses at $600. I may be wrong, but I got the impression a lot more than $600 of my time would be lost just dealing with all the red tape. I would have given it to someone, but was told it wouldn't work, so its been sitting in my closet all this time. Anyway, I'm just putting this information out there so someone else doesn't make the same mistake I did.

Not sure I follow or that we mean the same thing, I'm familiar with nudging tracks could you point to the time in the video where I talk about it?
@12tribes614 жыл бұрын
Blezz Beats you said at some point that mpc is not as flexible as a daw like logic because you because it only works in sections and doesn’t allow for flexibility like adding sounds in between bars. But if you go into grid mode you can move along the bar or sound anywhere within the the track. It doesn’t have to be robotic . 👍
@BlezzBeats4 жыл бұрын
@@12tribes61 Ah ok! What I mean is intersectionally. So imagine you'd have 2 sequences of 2 bars each and you chained them together to make 4 bars, and another sequence on top of that that starts at bar 2 and ends at bar 3. There's all types of ways to work around it it's just different from working in a DAW, many of us work with a loop think anyways but for a beginner who hasn't tried either it might be good to know.
